It was a whole bunch of beautiful combos. Tonnes of snap and great leverage. There had been 2.5 KDs and the ref called it with 0:08 left after a final combination.

Would Ortega, be Mary Elizabeth Ortega? surely not!! If so, Mary Elizabeth would be way too skinny if she weighed in reasonably close to Kentikian. Heck, At one time, I remember her weighing in at 130 lbs!! I know she is short...maybe 5' 2". But still.... Things do change, and I havent really been keeping up with the sport very closely for quite a while. (too involved with WIKBA and my website) @ Tyler Delmore,: Are you sure this wasnt yet another bogus stoppage that male refs are all too happy to inflict on female fighters? 2 kds doesnt mean jack d. squat if she got up twice... fighters have come back from worse to win...j:-X dan

After slow 50 seconds, the bout quickly turned into a beat down. Ortega was knocked down twice in the first round, almost three times actually (after being hit she got weak in the knees and Kentikian had already turned her back on her).
The stoppage was somewhat unfortunate and unnecessary, because there were only 7 seconds to go in the round and Ortega, while being backed up at the ropes, wasn't hit by anything dramatic at that moment. I sure would have loved to see a second round.
In any case, a very impressive and dominant performance by Kentikian.

Mary Ortega has been fighting as a fly weight and jr. fly for 3 years! I would LOVE to fight Susi...any chance Marcel? Been Training here in Vero beach with Buddy McGirt for over 2 years and I can't get an opportunity to show off the development...not lookin for a big payday...just an opportunity!

She should have held on to Susi for dear life until the round ended. Also, she should have taken an 8-count before getting up from the knockdowns.

A tall, long-armed boxer with good movement and a superior jab will be the one who dethrones Susi Kentekian. Marianne, how tall are you?

thanks for the video.... this was a sheer disapointment but after this fight i know can definetly see Susi fighting Elena, it would be interesting if Susi fought the mongoose who she should be fighting but that won't happen maybe 30 percent chance but i definetly see them doing it with Elena or know..sheesh.. however with the knockdowns those could have been slips on the floor, i mean she didn't knock her down like Ann Wolf did to Andre Ward but i won't dramatize this event anymore than it is, this was a sheer disapointment lets just hope May and June have better fights.

Thanks Fightfan for passing that on to us. I'm not sure if the ref was late or early with his call.
hey happy birthday Dan. Yes it has been awhile since you've been around.

5'2" Marcel...and yes I agree about boxing her...move to the right keep her turning...Mary went straight in and obviously it looks like Susi has got some pop in those rights...they were good clean knockdowns...her legs folded...

Did anyone see Natalie Brown vs Keli Cofer, well the reason I refer to this is because I saw it on YOutube once and after Natalie Brown knockdown Keli Cofer, Natalie Brown just stopped using a strategy and just tried to ko Kelli Cofer and get her out of the way, do you think maybe Susi saw at point of weakness and decided to just go for a ko??..I just thought about that...anyway that it for me and talking about this fight..

Just because there were only a few seconds left in the round doesn't mean the fight shouldn't be stopped. Having 60 seconds to rest only to walk back out into a one-sided beating does no favor to your long-term health. Are you sure this wasnt yet another bogus stoppage that male refs are all too happy to inflict on female fighters? 2 kds doesnt mean jack d. squat if she got up twice... She was really being hurt. Both knockdowns were clean and there was a third moment where her legs buckled hard (Susi actually thought Mary had gone down, so turned to go to the neutral corner). She was going to get hurt.

Mary definately got caught cold. I suspect Susi might have some trouble if she is forced to fight going backwards too. She is so strong, so it will be hard to push her back, but the idea is to get her to fight your fight. take her out of her game, which is high punch volume pressure fighting.

Susi has the best balance and movement since Lucia! Totally awesome athelete. Suzi has the best feet in women’s boxing today. Superlative balance. She always ready to deliver a pineapple or slip away from a punch. She’s technically supreme and has the heart of lion. Fearlessly fierce! Mary gave away her advantage, her reach. She left herself wide open throwing lead rights!!?!?!? OMFG, is that a bad strategy against a perfectly balanced power machine. Mary even threw a left uppercut? BAM, she paid the price for not using a double –triple jab. The stoppage was premature. Sure Mary had been popped hard but she was not in the kind of danger that would merit an intervention. Then again, when you visit the mat twice in a round, you are looked at even closer. Suzi’s first knockdown came off a left hook, which seems to be her fastest hand. Sure great power in the right but man, that left was fast. Also, Mary had no thought about holding on, which could have given her the extra 10 seconds to get her out of the round. Mary got back up and kept fighting. She’s a true warrior. And tough as all get out. She just needed a better plan and better execution. You win with your feet…when you get the balance and movement right, your always ready to thrown. And never ever give up a pepper left jab against a smaller opponent. Learn to clinch, it may save your head. You can be assured that Menzer will be popping that left jab making Stacey deal with it and then bringing the right once she has Stacey looking at her left. Congrads to Susi! Awesome display of skill and power! TD

Maybe those German's are weighing their gloves down with some sort of contraband before the fight. Is there anyone watching them glove up?

Tachany... would NOT trust those germans as far as I can spit. I would have somebody watching them tape up and I would definetly examine them. No dobut about it. But Susi really put a power shot(s) on Mary. She was mighty and wicked fast with perfect leverage.
Menzer hits harder but is not nearly as fast on her feet...but her balance is excellent. The MIAMI MONGOOSE is going to have to work off center, throw off her balance and really rip her body. And no way can she dance around with a low left hand, like she likes to. Knowhatimsayin...

Second you and your trainer build a strategy against the person your fighting against if it may be susi or not however becareful and think smart..not hard..

Because your adding up didn't amount to sh*t ! thats not necessary, Stacy, sheesh...I will tell the truth i was hoping that Mary would beat Susi and she would bring the belts over here but with further observation and analysis you can see that Susi was more prepared than Mary. Mary having her middle finger up, she should have had her a game up, both fights Hollie and Elena vs Mary ortega are on dvd so she could have practiced but back to your comments stacy. dangit.. it is not about who right and who's wrong but scheduling a fight with two willing fighters and some good sportmanship.

I have to comment on this one... IF, and that is a big IF, Menzer lands a good one on StayLo. Menzer will accomplish nothing but a quicker @$$ whipping from StayLo. It will only piss off Stacy and she will fight even harder. You guys need not underestimate Stacy!
Anyway does anyone know Susi's walk around weight?

Awww Stacey..stop making a fool of yourself. Sarah was much lighter, which made it a stupid fight AND she is not nearly in the same league Mary is. I would NOT book a fight like Sarah vs Susi. They caught a large amount of flack for it and it won't happen again anytime soon. Sarah vs Sahin I would book. But even you know this was a bad thing. That's why you wanted the people in here to believe that your wife got a huuuuuuuuuuge amount of money (more than all of your fighters combined, the poor guys) and reallyreally wanted the fight herself because of it. To justify you throwing her into a fight like that. That is my opinion. I will tell you this: Universum spent more money on Ortega than they did on Sarah. Because they though she is better than Sarah, which she is of course. It's just that Susi can be very dangerous.
