"Hi! My name is Gail Grandchamp. I know a lot of you remember me. Many of you were probably not even born yet when I was fighting. I’m a professional boxer/coach/trainer. I was the boxer who was denied the right to fight in the Golden Gloves. I am the woman who fought 8 long years for women to have the right to become amateur boxers. This was a sex-discrimination case. In April 1992 I won that right for all the women to compete as amateur boxers. That right was not given to you by USA Boxing. I had to file a lawsuit against them. I had to fight against USA Boxing in court for your right to fight as amateurs. The fight does not end there. Sex discrimination is still alive and well. To all you women out there, please join me in the fight to open up the Olympic Door. Help me put sex discrimination to bed once and for all. Do you believe you have the right to go to the Olympics? Don’t you feel you are skilled enough and have worked hard? Stand up! Stand up and fight for what is right. Women amateur boxers should be allowed to compete in the 2008 Olympics. Stop sex discrimination! Don’t let anyone decide your future in boxing. Do you want to have a chance to stand on the platform with your head held high as the first gold medalist? Do what I do. Stand up! Stand up and fight for what is right. Join us! Go to “ Join Us” on my website: www.afighterwithheart.com Together we will make our Olympic Dream come true.
