In the old days, the promoter would have a contract signing Press event.
Fight managers loved that. All 3 sides saw the document they were signing in each other presence. There were NO fudging, so to speak.
Fighter A was contracting with Fighter B, so to speak, and THE PROMOTER.
Side note, its interesting what is going on at UFC...they are demanding their "league" fighters give up all future rights, basically for NOTHING, so the UFC can sell those rights, basically just for their benefit, to a "game" maker. Some fighters are refusing to sign. They are being bounced immediately from future cards.
But, I'm guessing a UFC fighter LOST, is another league's gain.
Actors figured all this out along time ago, that movies were THEM, the ACTOR. Not the slob-vampire-producer. They formed the Screen actors Guild. Eventually, movie making took off. Why? Because young actor wannabes knew they could make a living acting, thanks to SAG setting up a revenue sharing scheme in their dealings with the Producers "league".
So boxers, what ya waiting for?
