The NABF stripped Jeri Sitzes of her Featherweight title, stating:
the organization felt that such disregard for the NABF, it's fighters and it's titles, necessitated removing Jeri Sitzes from present consideration as a contender for the featherweight title
when it learned Team Sitzes was negotiating for a bout on August 10th in apparent conflict with the August 3rd title defense.
Team Sitzes states this bout was in the planning stages when the title defense with Melissa Hernandez was originally scheduled for July 20th.
Was the NABF correct in stripping Sitzes of her title?

Heck no. A title can only be won or lost in the ring. I can see stripping a title if a fighter "freezes" her belt, like not defending in a year or more. This was not the case here. Jeri should have been granted a short extension due to her emotional hardship. Therefore, the women who end up fighting for Jeri's NABF title will be fighting for a paper crown, and the winner will be a paper champion, at least until they face Jeri Sitzes.
The NABF needs a guy like Frankie G. at the helm.

JR and Team Sitzes,
I just read Team Sitzes explanation for the Aug. 3 and Aug. 10 mix ups. Extremely hard to follow with as many twists and turns as one big 5 year "Dallas" espisode.
I do think that considertaion must be extended to Ms.Sitzes...and it seems apparent that two different sets of negotiations, with two different promoters were going on at or near the same time.
With all the said, the NABF ( hope I got the letters right) would be wise to extend awarding their belt to the eventual winner of Sitzes-Hernandez WHEN those two fight. I have no doubt that they will get it on. Both ladies NEVER-EVER run from a challenge. So their meeting is logical as well as " fistically pyrotechnical" ( just made that term up).
Can't we all just let fighters get it on?

Amen to that. Frankie G. is a good man. A great supporter of the sport.
But first, he has to give the WILDCAT back to the sport! LOL.

In My Opinion:
Based on the press releases from the NABF and Team Sitzes, the NABF made its decision to strip Jeri Sitzes of her Featherweight title using incomplete information.
The NABF needs to admit its mistake (call it a face-saving “re-evaluation”), owes Jeri Sitzes an apology, and needs to reinstate her title so the championship title defense with Melissa Hernandez can be rescheduled. The NABF can begin to repair its damaged image with these steps.

Team Sitzes has sent a request to Jill Diamond, NABF asking for an official statement regarding the following press release found on WBAN:
Hernandez - Dierdorff Bout off card (AUG 1) WBAN has received info that the Melissa Hernandez vs. Brooke Dierdorff bout is off the card in Doraville, Georgia. The fight was to take place this week on August 3, 2007. No other details at this time. Source: Butch Gottlieb
What are the plans for the NABF Featherweight Title Now? Why was this fight cancelled? Jeri lost her mother and the NABF did not see that as a good reason to strip her of her title. We expect them to reply as to what the reason for cancelling this title fight 2 days before the scheduled fight was? We don't feel we are being unreasonable in making this request.
JR. We appreciate your comments regarding this situation. We felt it unreasonable and appreciate your post and others that have conveyed the same sentiments Team Sitzes has regarding this "Title Strip".
