As reported in my previous weeks posts: Friday, Novenber 3: At the Roseland Ballroom in NY, NY: Cindy Serrano 13-0-1 (7) vs TBA in a featherweight six; and at the Camino Real Hotel in El Paso, Texas, Jazmin Rivas 13-3 (6) vs Rocio Vasquez 6-3 (1) in a super bantam ten (no title fight listed).
As Dee stated: The Kinder, Lousiana card was postponed to Saturday, November 4th. That card has the Valerie Mafood - Yvonne Reis super middleweight bout and the Tiffany Junot - Dominga Olivo light welter bout. Another card in Alexandria, Lousiana has the "fighting Marine" Kasha Chamblin 8-0 (5) vs TBA in a featherweight tussle.
The Big event Saturday is in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada: Three women's title fights are on the line. Headling is home town girl Jelena Mrdjenovich 18-1 (11) vs late substitute Ann Marie Saccurato 11-1-2 (5) out of White plaines, New York. What will be odd in this bout for the WBC lightweight title is that Saccurato will only be one inch shorter than Mrdjenovich. Jelena is usually much taller than her opponents. Next is Lisa Brown 12-2-3 (4), a southpaw originally from Trinidad but who now lives and fights out of Scarborough, Ontario. She will be fighting for the WIBA junior lightweight belt against the orthodox style of Mellissa Hernandez, 5-0-1 (2) originally from Puerto Rico, but who now lives and fights out of the Bronx. Lastly, two lefties fighting for the WIBA junior featherweight crown: Jeannine Garside 5-0-1 (2)of Windsor, Ontario, versus the aging (39 years old) but still graceful Mexican boxer, Laura Serrano 16-2-2 (6) who now lives and trains in Las Vegas.
Saturday, in Monte Carlo, Monico: Two more southpaws in another matchup of youth versus experience. Italy's 36 year old Stefania Bianchini (15-2 (2) versus China's 26 year old Xiyan Zhang 2-0 for the WBC flyweight title. Don't let the record fool you. Zhang has extensive amatuer experience and is WBAN's #1 ranked bantamweight.
WBAN has two bouts listed for Saturday that I have not yet confirmed with another source: Missy Field 0-1 vs GiGi Jackson in Columbus, Ohio and Molly McConnell 5-1 (2) vs TBA in Anacortes, Washington.
