How freakin lame is to say, I'M FIGHTING SOMEONE IN THE GARDEN. I DON'T KNOW WHO THAT SOMEONE IS. Worse, the weak-assed media thinks, WE GOTS OURSELVES A STORY...they run around posting ALI is fighting in the MSG and never realize they made an ass out of themselves by never mentioning,ALI HAS NO OPPONENT SO YOU CAN'T SAY SHE IS FIGHTING ANYBODY.
So lame. Yet so Laila.
How 'bout Lucia, Laila? Or Anne? Or Jacqui?
Ah, maybe a rook will take the 15Gs to go to MSG and be Laila's "opponent".
Dam pathetic. Stop feeding worthless news cycles until you have real news. Somebody fighting Nobody is not news , not a story...more like an IQ test and the media nitwits failed it again.

Laila is fighting Ijeoma Egbunine. Egbunine is a dangerous puncher who just demolished Valerie Mahfood in 2 rounds. Ali vs Egbunine is a good fight!!!! the WIBA (& WBC) will be sanctioning this fight, so i will be there for this event. RYAN

Ryan,
When did IJOEMA get announced?
Notice how you and me and Laila and Ijoema are the only people in the universe who know that IJOEMA means NOBODY in media speak.

Ijeoma might not be a household name, but she is a legit opponant for Laila.

A Laila Ali/Ijeoma Egubunine is not as bad as it could have been, the nightmare would have been Vonda Ward, but certainly not as good as it should be.
Egubunine's last win was against Sandell and she has lost to Eplion, albeit early in her career, so we're still dealing, essentially, with middle-of-the-pack middleweight opposition.
I suspect the "spin" on this one will be that Ann, Latitia and maybe even Mary Jo deserve main event status.

Ryan, When did IJOEMA get announced? i just found out from Laila Ali's manager, that she is fighting Ijeoma Egbunine on November 11th at Madison Square Garden in NYC, defending her WIBA & WBC Super Middleweight World Titles. RYAN previous thread titled "Ali to fight Egbunine" ...

Ijeoma's only loss was a controversial decision to Nikki Eplion. Eplion's promoter told me that Eplion lost that fight and got a gift from the judges. Ijeoma is better then many people give credit for.

Egubunine's last win was against Sandell and she has lost to Eplion, albeit early in her career, so we're still dealing, essentially, with middle-of-the-pack middleweight opposition. The fight with Nikki Eplion was on March 12, 2005 at the Radisson Hotel in Huntington, West Virginia, which is Eplion's boxing hometown. And as Ryan previously mentioned, it was a controversial result. Egbunine is not, however a middleweight ... she has fought her pro fights at super middle or (mostly) light heavy, which is where she is ranked #1 by WBAN, #1 by WIBA and #3 by Boxrec.

I think Ijeoma will go the distance with Ali, and quite frankly surprise everyone. She will probably knock Laila down a few times and test her chin. This is what Ijeoma has been waiting for and she will not let it slip through her hands.

Oh well another mishap. Didn't this happen in Africa as well? When will the cat and mouse game stop?

Ali should be cautious of ringrust. By November, it will be 11 months since she last fought, vs. 4 months for Burton.
