Salandy to meet American Reis next
Trinidad and Tobago's newly crowned women's world light middleweight champion Jizelle Salandy is set to tackle American Yvonne Reis for the women's World Boxing Council (WBC) middleweight title in her next outing.
The 19-year-old Salandy grabbed the 154-pound WBC and World Boxing Association (WBA) light middleweight titles on Friday night when she defeated American Liz Mooney, and her manager Boxu Potts says Reis has agreed to face Salandy.
"We have spoken to Yvonne Reis and we are looking at the end of November for this fight in Trinidad and Tobago," Potts told CMC Sport yesterday.
The 40-year-old Reis won the vacant WBC title in April this year when she defeated Kenya's Conjestina Achieng on a split decision, in Nairobi.
Reis has a moderate ring record of six wins against nine losses and one draw.
Salandy is using this middleweight (160-pound) bid against Reis as a stepping stone towards a lucrative clash with American superstar Laila Ali.
Salandy's win, on Friday at Skinner Park in San Fernando, improved her record to 12-1 with six knockouts, and Potts is working feverishly to secure a meeting with the unbeaten Ali.
Ali, the famous daughter of the legendary heavyweight champion of the 1960s and 70s Muhammed Ali, holds the Women's International Boxing Association (WIBA) and WBC super-middleweight titles. She has an impressive ring record of 22-0 (19 knockouts).

Reis has a fight scheduled against Leatitia Robinson on December 4th in Kenya, so i doubt Reis would be available to fight Salandy in late-November.
