“A Ring of Their Own” has announced a match between Jelena Mrdjenovich and Eliza Olson for November 4th in Edmonton. The website states “WBC World Championship” but no further details are provided.
At first glance, this contest appears to be a big risk for Mrdjenovich. Olson, a tough and skilled boxer, has fought some very good boxers such as Jessica Rakoczy, Jaime Clampitt, and Myriam Lamare. Olson last fought and defeated Miriam Brakache at 148 pounds.
But all but two of Olson’s victories have been by decision. In the opinion of many, she has been robbed of victories on several occasions by hometown judging and the infamous draw.
So this match-up may not be so risky for Mrdjenovich after all. No one will win by decision over Mrdjenovich in Edmonton, so Olson will need a stoppage to win. And since Olson has won only twice by TKO, the odds are in Mrdjenovich’s favor. However, Mrdjenovich has not experienced the patented Olson uppercut.

If they fight at 135 pounds, I have to go with Jelena by decision at home. If they fought a catchweight bout, Olsen's natural weight advantage might overcome Jelena's height advantage. I still don't understand why Olsen-Rakoczy II fell through this summer. The original was a close bout and this had good potential. Was there a dispute over money, or was it impossible for Olsen to meet the fight weight in time (since she fought the heavier Brakache instead).

Based on the Edmonton scoring of Jelena Mrdjenovich’s last two fights, I have calculated a 30 percent venue degree of difficulty for Eliza Olson in the November 4th contest with Mrdjenovich. Olson will have a 3-round deficit when the match begins.

Olson is out with a broken toe. Ann-Marie Saccurato (11-1-2) of NY will substitute.

she also misses a chance to prove herself to you and those like you. Saccurato's record seems pretty good. I take it you feel she's not.
