I would be very interested to know who Martin Peters is and what qualification he has to state that Jane Couch is 'way over her peak'? Tex Woodward

She is not way past her peak. There are just more female boxers out there and they are starting at a younger age, and participating in amateur programs. Jane is as tough as ever. The competition is just getting better.

Fair enough. Let's say that while the competition has improved, Jane isn't going to get any better, and time isn't on her side.

She may not be able to hit harder, but she may be able to alter her style...change her look in there. What if she decides to come out boxing against a fighter who is expecting pressure. Is smething like that not an improvement? We all have room for improvement.

Yes, yes, I agree with you...we do all have the capacity to improve...but I think you miss the point that age is an important factor in any sporting discipline, and that in the end it catches up with us. I'm not denying, by the way, that Jane has been a great fighter, and one unafraid to take on opponents just about anywhere.
