The week begins with mismatches and ends with a couple of barn burners. Things open Wednesday with a six round light flyweight tilt between debuting Anabel Ortiz and 5-0 Esmeralda Moreno in Nezahual Coyotl, Mexico where the Aztecs reputedly sacrificed humans. Let's hope Miss Ortiz isn't a sacrifice.
Lots of bouts Friday, but many are mismatches: In JuJuy, Argentina; Particia Quirico 9-4 (8) takes on 0-1 Renata del Silva in what is billed as a UBC Superbantam title fight (sic). Another gross mismatch is in Queensland, Australia where Susan Anyos 11-3 (2) is fighting a eight round featherweight bout against Thai fighter Konsuay Deksukhotai. Miss D is said to have a 5-2 (2) record but from what I can find, I think this is her Thai kick boxing record.
In the Risskov-Hallen in Denmark, Anita Chistiansen 17-0 (7) is fighting a six round bantam bout against Ugandan Jane Kavulani 4-4-1. In Fort Worth, Texas, bantamweight Vanessa Juarez makes her debut against 1-3 Maria Contraras.
Saturday makes up for the rest of the week. In Kalispell, Montana Shelly Burton 8-2 (2) takes on Dakota Stone 7-4-3 (1) in an evenly matched Noth American Boxing Federation middleweight title bout. Even better, Lisa Holewyne goes down from middle to welterweight to challenge hometown Holly Holm for her title belt in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Holly is 13-1-2 (5) but the experienced Lisa is 25-17-2 (8) and has the heavier punch. Also on this card, Sarah Perches makes her pro debut against TBA.

Team Holm learned from the Shadina Pennybaker bout they can use the head butt at home without penalty. Lisa Holewyne is a courageous road warrior but cannot get a decision in Albuquerque - no one can. Expect Holm to be a "kangaroo" (Christy Martin's description) if Holewyne is punching effectively, trade punches if Holewyne's punching is lacking, or use the head butt if Holewyne is getting the better of Holm. Lopsided hometown decision or TKO-HB (head butt) in favor of Holm.

Change to tonight's bout in Mexico. Instead of fighting a debut fighter, Esmeralda Moreno 5-0 will now be fighting a formidable opponent, Mayela Perez 7-1-1 (6). I am glad to see the promoter make this change to a competitive bout.
Also, on Friday at Cavite, Phillippines: Two ladies making their debuts, Elsie Quizon of the Phillippines versus Eue Jung Kim, formerly of South Korea.

By now, everyone knows Angel Martinez 4-1-1 (1) has replaced Lisa Holewyn in the Holly Holm fight Saturday in Albuquerque. Tonight in Mexico City, Mexico: Gabriela Gonzales 2-0 (1) takes on Yadira Roseles in a four round Flyweight bout. I also found a new bout for next Friday (16th) in Tampa where Superfeather Jenna Shiver 1-1-1 will fight TBA. Next week looks to have few women's bouts (maybe four at last count.)
