Due to medical reasons, this will be my last post for a few days, but this needs checking out.
BoxRec just posted Mary Mcgee's opponent for the Merrilville, Indiana card. It is a debut for a fighter named KeLah Pollari. The problem (and I hope it is just an error by BoxRec) is that they listed Pollari as a male. McGee maybe 5-0 (5) but I hate to see mixed boxing.
Please use your resources to check this out.

Len, boxrec often lists female fighters with few fights as "male" until someone tells them otherwise, even when the name is obviously female. I think "male" must mean "don't know" inside boxrec's computers. Of course some of us think it means that elsewhere too Get well and come back soon, Len ...

I notice that boxrec is still listing Evgenia Zablotskaja as "male" despite her name being female and the fact that she lost to Susianna Kentikian who they have figured out is female They are very slow to get the women boxers listed as "female" sometimes, this is just another example.

Thanks for getting them corrected, Martin.
It's been quite common for new female fighters to be reported as "male" on boxrec for a while, so rather than making an entry in a Forum every time perhaps you could suggest to someone who programs the database that if it does not know the gender then it does not automatically assume "male"? Also as male-female boxing is not sanctioned anywhere that I know perhaps it could send a warning message to a top editor if it ever has a "male" listed as fighting a known female? That was what got Len asking and is the only reason I followed it up here.
I realize that some names in some languages are hard to tell the gender and some are actually ambiguous anyway, but it's pretty easy for the Russians: when both names end in an "a" like "Evgenia Zablotskaja" they are female.
Best wishes,
Dee
