O'Neil lost badly to Ali last time, and has never won a fight outside of the Carribean. This is another case of cannon fodder for Ali.

Why does O'Neilget a rematch when Karen Bill clearly deserved one but never got?

I bet Laila would fight her now. I always thought that Laila really wanted to fight the Ann Wolfes and Leaticia Robinsons . I always thought that it was more Johnny Mac's influence and business skills that got in the way. Now that this is over, perhaps we'll get those match-ups since Laila has said she wants to give the fans what they want in '06. But this O'Neil match-up is silly. Is it me or is the WBC trying to take over women's boxing and run other associations out of the sport. Wasn't there an incident where someone on this board who's from another sanctioning body was physically attacked or something of that nature?
And Rick, while you're at it, ask that lady in the picture with you why she won't fight Sumya Anani.

And Rick, while you're at it, ask that lady in the picture with you why she won't fight Sumya Anani. Christian I asked her that once before, and if I can recall correctly, she said something to the effect that she fights for money, and that there have been no substantial offers for her to take that match. If it too a cool mllion to get her in the ring with Christy Martin, one can only ponder how much it would take for her to take on the best female fighter on the planet. She was matter-of-fact about it, like it was nothing more than a business decision.

I guess Lucia Rijker will retire undefeated. But at least you asked her. It just amazes me how some people (Rijker included) will say that Laila Ali is just in the boxing business for money and to take advantage of her father's name, but Rijker is calling she and Christy Martin out for money.

I don't think this fight will ever happen. And if I was Laila Ali, I would take advantage of my fathers last name too. And I don't think there is nothing wrong with just being in it for the money.

Although Ali gives lip service to fighting Ann Wolfe, I doubt she will give her an opportunity, at least until Ann turns 40 and arthritis slows her up.

I think the biggest threat to Laila Ali is Leaticia Robinson. Ann Wolfe can be a passive at times and start slowly (Nunez fight). This feud was less about the women and more about RPM vs Absoloot Boxing. Now that Laila and Yahya are splitting, the potential of this fight happening has increased. Laila Ali is trained by the best and a few years ago, I would've taken Ann easy in this fight. But now, I'd go with Laila Ali. She isn't afraid of Ann, she wants to fight her. But Robinson is the one she really wants to fight. And that may or may not happen. After O'Neil, hopefully it is Robinson.

I believe this is called "addition by subtraction": an absurd matchup is canceled, essentially saving the sport from another embarrassment.

I've heard that beautiful country's name brought up many times, even by local promoters, and yet to have seen something happen there.
