You can watch it here: www.dailymotion.com/tag/super/video/xqkvg_boxe-lamare-vs-mathisI was a big Lamare fan. Key word WAS. This fight was sloppy beyond belief. I have never seen so many pushed, missed, ineffective punches in one single fight. Worse, it was stopped prematurely and I had Lamare winning 59 - 57 going into the 7th round. Neither one of these ladies would last 5 rounds with Lucia or Sumya or Christy. Strangely they both seemed to run of gas almost by the third round. Mathis kept pushing a jab, even when Lamare was 4 steps away. Lamare fought like she never knew that Mathis was 5 or more inches taller. But she threw every punch with evil intent, only problem, Mathis was too far away to catch those bombs. Lamare did knock Mathis back on her heels in round 3, 4 and 5. Round 6 was the first round I scored for Mathis...even with those pushed punches. Both girls might have been victims of nerves because they seemed to tire within 30 seconds into a round. The fight was stopped incorrectly BUT the ref may have seen both ladies almost brawling and falling around the ring and assumed they both were in bad shape. To her credit,Mathis just kept pushing those punches outward. Not the fight I was expecting and certainly NOT the fight that someone reviewed. But hey, watch it for yourself. TD

Yeah, I had read about how good this match was and watched it on this link and thought it ended a bit early. Couldn't believe in one of the slow-mos between rounds just how many punches were being missed. Sumya needs to challenge Mathis for this belt and put on a real display of firepower.

Sumya would "kill" either of these two. They are definetly NOT in her league, based on this fight. I was a big Lamare fan having watched 3 other fights of hers.
It was just a really bad performance. There are plenty of female fighters out there who outshine this one. Mathis just kept pushing a jab even though she had to know she'd miss by 3 steps! Only possible strategy was, Lamare will run into it.
And Lamare really didn't know how to handle the size-reach difference...she slip-dip and bob, but in place! She never quite figured out how to close...but she landed the much harder shots.
And the stoppage was BS. But I thought about watching them stumble around in rounds 5 and 6 so I might have been over cautious too when Mathis did land a few punches in round 7. I will wager that LAMARE was very very unhappy with her performance and with the stoppage.

Mathis landed a plethora of clean counterpunches. I'm surprised Lamare wasn't stopped sooner. Elena T are you listening?
Thanks a lot TD!
