Tonight, in Wekerle Sándor Sport & Leisure Complex, Mór, Hungary in the main-event on the card, the Hollie "Hot Stuff" Dunaway 104Lbs outpointed with split decision Belinszky Krisztina 102,5Lbs, after a ten round, and captured the WIBF-GBU and WIBC minimumweight Title. This fight it was some last rounds action packed remarkable/spectacular! Final scoring was: Ernst Salzgeber (AUT) 99:94, Patrizio Oliva (ITA) 97:95 for Dunaway and Miklos Döry 96:94! (questionable) for Belinszky. Belinszky suffered took the defeat very sportsmanlike way and congratulated for her win. Belinszky would like to rematch if Holie to take the opportunity.

It was a tough fight but I won a decision in Hungary. Yes I won. .... We have had a great time and it was a great fight. I'll give details later but right now I will just say that we have never been treated better than this week and everyone here has been great. I am reposting Hollie's comments about the fight here under the correct result title.

There is strong competition this month, with Ann-Marie Saccurato's win over Jelena Mrdjenovich in Edmonton

Agreed. But winning in Edmonton has been done before. Winning in Hungary is a whole different story. It's "Fighter of the Month", not "Judges of the Month", though I happen to think a win over Mrdjenovich was a tad tougher test than a win over Belinszky, pound for pound. Either would merit Fighter of the Month honors but WBAN will have to choose between them as they happened so close together. However I am glad these results happened when they did because it says the judges in both places were able to rise above the "uniform home bias" criticism. This month has shown that road warriors CAN win in places where some of this Forum's "wisdom" has been that they simply could not, that the dice were too loaded etc. And showing that's not necessarily so is good for the sport. Hollie and Ann-Marie BOTH deserve a big cheer for daring to give the "road" shot a try and for pulling it off!

But, I just watched the Saccurato-Mrdjenovich fight and I must say that it was not an impressive performance by either women. Constant fouling and holding and VERY sloppy inside fighting. Both looked very amateurish at times. The fight was very close and could have been scored either way. I did see one woman on that card who was impressive and thats Melissa Hernandez. That girl can really fight! The referee of the Saccurato-Mrdjenovich fight was absolutely incompetent. I hope in a rematch they get a guy who knows what he is doing. Bobby Dobbs

To bad Serrano didn't win, You could of made it a threesome Allan I am normally a big fan of Garside too. The girl is spectacular. But, in the Serrano fight it was southpaw vs southpaw which did not allow Jeanine to look her best. Bobby

ok, thanks Bobby. Take a look at all the top featherweights. Thats Jeannines line up. thats who she hopes to get it on with southpaw or not. My personal feeling in what it takes to make a good fight is two good fighters booth tring their best to win. I think she has some good fights infront of her. Allan

My personal feeling in what it takes to make a good fight is two good fighters booth tring their best to win. I think she has some good fights infront of her. Allan Well take the Jelena-Saccurato fight for example. Both tried their best but that basically resulted in them falling into each other, constantly hitting each other behind the head and holding and hitting each other. That fight was a mess! With Jeanines fight, she looked good but, she looks better against orthodox fighters. (like just about everyone else). Garside and McCarter are two of my favorite fighters and I would definately pay to see that one! Layla keeps fighting these big girls, but she could get back to 130 if she wanted to. BD

Laura was one of my favorites and I told her I was going to have a hard time cheering for that fight. Mcarter and Jeannine would be a great fight. Jelena's fight was a little messy. I felt the ref let it get out of control. from where I was sitting it looked like Jelena was being held and hit, but after seeing the show it looks more like Jelena was doing the holding. maybe she had to much respect for Saccurato's punching power. what ever the reasone, if they have a rematch she should rely more on her boxing skills.
congratulations Holly on your victory. sorry about the side tracking. It happens sometimes. Allan

Congratulations Holly!
You leveled the playing field when they brought in two judges from outside Hungary!
The fight in the later rounds was action packed and spectacular. Final scoring was: Ernst Salzgeber (AUT) 99:94, Patrizio Oliva 97:95 for Dunaway and Miklos Döry 96:94 (questionable) for Belinszky.
But what fight was Judge Dory watching? And what was in his post-fight envelope?
But you obviously gave Baby K. Belinsky a certifyied ass-whooping! Hope you had fun!

I did see one woman on that card who was impressive and thats Melissa Hernandez. That girl can really fight! I agree. She is also on our short list for WBAN F.O.M. However, in picking just one fighter WBAN usually looks at more than just "the fight". It's a way to acknowledge a career effort at the time of a notable win, not JUST the winner of the "best fight". Let's be glad there are so many good candidates this month, and so many "away" wins too, coming on the heels of people arguing that some home advantages were written in stone. This was a good month for the sport all around, with the world amateur championships crowning some new stars as well.
