Arnie Rosenthal in a recent article on insidewomensboxing; Mia St. John has "fought and beaten the top girls in her division" I was hoping that Arnie or his buddy Ryan might post here any of the "top girls" that St. John has "beaten". bw

I think Jelena will win, but only by decision. Although St. John has fought many good fighters with quality punching power, she has only been stopped twice (both on cuts). Mia fights good fighters very defensively. She takes few risks which is why she doesn't beat the best.

You forget the night that Mia Fell in San Antonio she was hit with a nice hook to the head by Rolanda Andrews! That my friend was no cut and www.ausaboxing.com/ausaboxing.html had it first

I think Jelena will win, but only by decision. Although St. John has fought many good fighters with quality punching power, she has only been stopped twice (both on cuts). Mia fights good fighters very defensively. She takes few risks which is why she doesn't beat the best. St. John fights cautiously against top opponents; in her own words, like playing a game of chess. In the contest with a quick Holly Holm, St. John’s defensive skills prevented Holm from inflicting any damage, much to the dislike of the Albuquerque audience. No one will win by decision over Mrdjenovich in Edmonton (or Yellowknife). The hometown advantage is alive and well. Mrdjenovich has more power than Holm but lacks her speed. Since punching power is meaningless if you can’t hit your opponent, I expect the Edmonton referee will help out Mrdjenovich by trying to force St. John to fight Mrdjenovich’s fight. The Edmonton crowd wants St. John KOed and not a repeat of the Holm UD. If St. John is allowed to fight her fight, Mrdjenovich will probably win by decision. There is always a chance that Mrdjenovich will make mistakes that St. John will capitalize on and could possibly stop Mrdjenovich. St. John cannot get a decision in Edmonton. If Mrdjenovich is assisted to fight her way, she could stop St. John. Much of this contest depends on officiating.

You forget the night that Mia Fell in San Antonio she was hit with a nice hook to the head by Rolanda Andrews! That my friend was no cut and www.ausaboxing.com/ausaboxing.html had it first Mia St. John has been stopped twice, once legitimately and once with controversy. The first stoppage was a TKO in the fight with Rolanda Andrews on November 9, 2001, St. John’s first loss and her first bout after she declined to renew her contract with Bob Arum’s Top Rank, becoming her own manager. St. John turned to trainers Eduardo and Roberto Garcia who taught her proper punching techniques, footwork, and defensive strategies. She had to unlearn much of her Tae Kwon Do training. St. John won her next four bouts, one by TKO. The second stoppage was a TKO during a rematch with Jessica Rakoczy in February 2005 at Rakoczy’s hometown of Lemoore, California. A Rokoczy head butt near the end of the second round opened a large cut above St. John’s right eye causing blood to obstruct her vision. The head butt was ruled accidental by the referee. The ringside physician examined the cut and told St. John she could continue the fight. St. John’s corner determined the cut was more serious than the physician claimed and halted the contest. Rakoczy was awarded a victory by TKO. St. John’s doctor used 27 stitches to close the cut and provided a diagnosis significantly different than that of the ringside physician: “The doctor told me if I had been hit more on that cut I would have been coming in for surgery, not just stitches,” St. John said. “She said the cut was clear down to the muscle and could have permanently damaged my eye.” (WBAN) The severity of St. John’s injury, so early in the bout, warranted a no-contest ruling.

all i can say is ,mia still remembers the whipping holly holms gave her ,so i dont expect she will win , jelena and team mrdjenovich we are still seeking a fight with you ,we are looking at july or august ,so when you win this fight with mia ,then be sure and give us a call ,mcnamara will be ready ,she could not fight on the 20th because of a prior obligation to fight rackozy ,i promise you she will be ready for a mrdjenovich vs mcnamara showdown ,it has to happen ,we wouldnt want your camp to think we backed out ,so in closing i spoke to mcnamara this morning and that fight with jelena is still on the top of our list we think with a good training camp we can go to canada and get this one ,so yes jelena is still on the radar for our next fight.
