In Sao Palo, Brazil: Duda Yankovich won a disappointing majority decision (59-57, 58-58, 59-56) over Guillemina Fernandez (0-5). Yankovich (now 6-0 with 5 previous KOs) will have to do much better than that if she thinks she can beat Mia St. John next month for the WBC female light welterweight title.
Since the fight is scheduled for Dubrovnik, Croatia; the former Yugoslav will sort of have the hometown advantage on October 31st. BUT!!!! Mia has a huge experience advantage, and has fought a much better class of fighters in the past 3-4 years than Yankovich has even seen. Furthermore, Mia has fought several ten rounders before and Duda has never fought beyond six.
