WTF is Hall on about? "The good thing about Laura is that she goes against the grain as far as female boxing is concerned," said Saperstein's trainer/manager Chris Hall. "Because one of the problems of the sport is that the girls don't fight hard enough. They're not strong enough and there's a little bit of very amateur style of boxing going on. But with Laura, she's very, very strong, very aggressive and she does hit hard. " www.youtube.com/watch?v=iKH0AWBDvYA

in England they are very 'old school' and many are against womens boxing. Jane Couch had problems even being allowed to box there. i think that trainer was just repeating many Brit's negative opinions about womens boxing.

Halmich kept to her weight class - which was junior flyweight (108 lbs) or flyweight (112 lbs) later - except for one junior bantamweight title fight with Daisy Lang. She showed firm weight discipline throughout her career.
Last time Cooper fought at flyweight was three years ago. Last time Cooper fought she was 122½ lbs, three weight classes above Halmich.

Justin, name some people Regina should have fought around in own weightclass? You caught me red handed Marcel but..my point is that she never fought anyone out of Germany and I don't want and i don't think even you or anyone in this group wants some one who chucks and jives and spits trash out of their mouth and can't box and can't box out of their own country, Now Regina could box but could NOT box out of her home land but she talked trash about Messer the same thing happen with Alesia Graf vs Zulina Munoz, yall know Munoz won that fight or it was a draw but she spewed out criticism, trash talking can be funny but if you can't have a spine and dance the dance you mine as well not do the tango

Justin, name some people Regina should have fought around in own weightclass? Just to show i can do the tango..lol jk I wrote a nice list of the people she could have fought looking at the WBAN ranking past fights: Susi K,Bettina Csabi before she retired, Shanee Martin, Maribel Zurita, Mary Ortega, Elena Reid, Holly Dunaway, Cathy Brown Stephanie Dobbs, Carina Moreno, Jackie Nava Esmeralda Moreno.. (All so i have nothing against Regina, she is good, and well paid but Germany fights are dangerous and tricky)

And like I said she was 122½ lbs, three weight classes above Halmich's weight, in that last fight. Cooper only fought ONE pro fight as low as flyweight, and (also like I said) that was three years ago, when she was 19.

Nava has never fought below bantamweight as a pro boxer and she normally fights at junior featherweight. Shanee Martin has never beaten anyone at Regina's level and wouldn't have had much chance against her. Csabi never fought at flyweight though she came in once at 113¼ as a junior bantam.

If the fight was offered to Melinda Cooper, she most likely could have made the weight. She fluctuates her weight like many women fighters, bus has basically the same frame as Elena Reid who made 112 to fight Hamich.

Cooper has fought professionally for almost six years and 18 fights. She only once weighed in below 112, three years ago when she was 19. Her last weight was 122½. She also finished her amateur career competing at 125 - she has not fought consistently below junior bantamweight since she was about 15. This does not speak to her reasons for doing so - which may have included finding out that only heavier opponents were willing to fight her. She is about the same height as both Halmich and Reid. Her abundant talents are being wasted compared to Halmich's, which were turned into a lucrative career by astute management and promotion. Too bad they can only do that in Germany, and not in Vegas ... as it helps to explain the difference between www.womenboxingrecords.com/results/quarterly_germany.htmand www.womenboxingrecords.com/results/quarterly_usa.htm

Well, I big German promoter asked me to find a young and very talented female boxer from anywhere in the world. They had to be willing to study or do something else in Germany. Housing and all that (monthly money from sponoring) would be arranged. Similar to what happened with Ragosina and Kentikian. I contacted James Pena about it, but I never heard back. That was right around when the problems started in Vegas. James if you read this: what's up?
