I always thought Elena would fight Melinda Cooper or Hollie or Susi and win back the title as her last fights this is great for her but this is very saddening day of boxing for me.. She didn't even have her last fight..i mean Ryan what happens to her belt?? oh God..i bet some german female fighter will get that belt oh well all well that ends well

First of all,I'm surprised that there hasn't been more chatter on this subject since I first posted,I figured it would be big news and everyone would have a lot of different opinions...
Sure,Elena is in a great position for 2008,but it is hard to be in control of one's own destiny in boxing...the promoters have to want to put on the fight, especially a ten round title fight for decent money and the best opponents have to agree to fight her...not always possible. So instead of waiting around for the fights that she wants and deserves,I think its better that she just fight and mma is giving her more opportunities to be active, which is what her job is!
Richard Steele's "Steele Cage Promotions" is putting on this show...

I fear the unknown Vaia , I am not a fan of these MMA fights , I feel I will soon have to give up my job as Mr.Boxing because my sport I mean Our sport is being replaced by inferior competition ! Now as far as Elena Reid she is a beautiful girl and she can pull off a successful career at anything she does !And I wish her the best of luck !

Justin - remember the registration process for this Forum (not long ago, for you)? People who post here with boxer names were verified when they registered, and "Vaia Zaganas" is the real deal.

Yes,its really me,and I happen to get news regarding Elena's career faster than WBAN or fightnews since we have the same trainer, used to be roommates and have been friends and training partners for many years

It's good to have Elena Reid back in the ring again, MMA or otherwise. She should have been included in some king of round robin tournament for Halmich's vacated title, considering how close their fight's were.
Good luck Elena!

Hi Vaia. If that is something she wants to do then good for her. I am not a huge fan of it, but she should pursue whatever she wants.
She has already been a kickboxer and a boxer, so she already has a good skill set to start with. If she becomes a good grappler, she will be scary.
