I gotta say, Mia has got some kind of ovaries to challenge Christy to a winner take all bout on the anniversary of Christy Martin's Grandmother's Birth.
Of course Christy accepted. I hope Roy agrees to draw up that agreement! That in and of itself is boxing news worthy.
It also brings up a second salient point---alot of those punches that I thought MISSED Mia's head over the years apparently did not!
SHE HAS TO BE WHACKED OUT OF HER MIND TO PUT THAT IN FRONT OF CHRISTY. IT'S LIKE A LAMB GIVING THE WOLF A TASTE OF HER HIND QUARTER AND SAYING, DO U WANT THE REST OF IT? OMG!!!!
Christy ends this early or late, but there is NO WAY she lets the judges decide who gets paid and who gets laid...away.

Todd-- tell you what, I'll take Christy, if she wins, YOU have to write up a real nice post on her about what she means to female boxing, what a hot chick she is, and that her heart is as big as Kansas...now, you can tell me what you want me to write about, should MSJ some how land one of those big wide left swipes that catchs Christy on the temple and turns the fight in her favor.
But...you need to lay that out for me to review...that is, if you accept what I am asking for should Christy win. No cash. Betting on female boxing is a suckers game...even monopoly money, even match sticks or baseball cards or bottle caps. Its that frickin bad.

TD,
Christy Martin's heart would be bigger, if she would fight someone in this - her final fight - that could beat her - someone like Terri Blair, but since this fight is supposedly for a middleweight title, that would rule Terri out, being she fights best at welterweight and doesn't plan on going up.

I cant believe that this a winnwere take all purse. They borhblove money to much. It will be interesting to see who wins without Don King and Bob Arum to fix their fights.

Longjab Ah Camon LJ--these ladies have a history that has to be settled. My own opinion, Christy carried Mia the last fight...that fight was a stinker, IMO. Hard to understand Mia as everything she spewed upto and after THAT fight was a fantasy. Then she puts a WTA winner take all "bet" to Christy--ballsy move. News worthy move. But who knows who the judges are for this one. Fighters that have a scintilla of killer instinct get all lathered up over a WTA fight and this one should make for a doozie IF Roy changes up the advertising to reflect that. < he would be dumb not too<< TD

TD,
Do you actually think Mia St. John has the skills to beat Christy Martin in head to head competition?
If Christy held back in that fight - a fight most of us said Mia St. John was going to get killed and had no business in, if Christy lets it all hang out and goes for broke, will St. John still be standing when the fight is over or will the fight end because Mia was counted out or knocked out cold?
At the moment, it is all marketing - attractive or otherwise. Mia made some comments about what round she was going to KO Christy in. Once again, marketing to get people to go see the fight or watch it on PPV, if available.
If Christy is all business in this fight, IMO, the referee will either stop it when he or she has seen enough, giving Martin a TKO victory, Mia will be counted out or knocked out cold.
If Christy Martin is all business in this rematch, what is there really to settle? The fact that Mia offered it as 'winner take all' should be an incentive to both fighters, if both fighters have the skills to really make it a fight, but I think we know that only one of them can do that - Martin.

LJ
NO, MSJ does NOT have the skills to hang with a rusty martin.
However, her bravery in a WTA purse match is to be commended. Winners have one huge common denominator, 101% confidence.
But my points: Martin carried her in #1, the fight sucked, MIA looked terrible, now she's worse and the lamb chop ( WTA purse) has been offered to the wolf ( Martin).
So yes, its marketing, but marketing is always the driver for the fan, ie- why do I want to see this fight? Answer- WTA insures a bomb fest as the outcome is likely to be removed from the judges hands.
I HAVE ZERO CONFIDENCE IS BOXING JUDGES. EVERY ONE OF THEM SHOULD GO IN FRONT OF CONGRESS AND RAISE THEIR RIGHT HAND.

A well-done presentation on the upcoming fight by Fight Saga... www.fightsaga.com/news/item/2445-Mia-St-John-vs-Christy-Martin-Playboy-Cover-Girl-and-Coal-Miner-s-Daughter-Rumble-August-14I strongly disagree with TD about the topic of betting/women's boxing. It's just a wager on the human experience, no different than auto-racing, horse-racing, football, basketball, etc. etc. etc. ps. TD - gosh darn it. I was going to use your 20 bucks to buy 2 12-paks of Miller Chill in the bottle, ice them down real good in my ice chest and then with each one I pop open, sing the praises of Mia St. John and her crushing victory over the mean Christy Martin. ;D Todd--- you can't possibly think that the article you referenced tells a true story about this fight and or the last "fight" ?!?!?!?!?!?! It was as shammy as the title pasted on the Playboy cover " IBA Featherweight Champion". Or as funny as the giant black plastic drape placed behind the empty seats at ringside...in the Pontiac Dome ( serious overestimation of fan interest manifests itself in odd ways, eh) Back to Ms. Braekus see thru thong...you wouldn't know she was wearing it would you? That was the point of my comment on the "interview"--it was a serious laugher, but not as serious of a laugher as this link>http://www.thatvideosite.com/v/5852 Be sure to watch it all the way through and tell me you aren't on the floor by the end of it. It was a joke, by the way. TD
