Rick,
I sent Anne a facebook congrats on her dominant victory, but I also told her that a decision victory in New Mexico is not going to happen.
I told her that she will have to beat the hell out of Holm and probably KO her, but at least if she drops Holm a few times on the seat of her trunks, it will be obvious who the winner should be - the one the New Mexico judges will rip off and give it to Holm.
Of course, I hope Anne does KO Holm and leaves the fans in New Mexico in utter shock and disbelief, knowing that shear reality has just set in.
That's just how much I don't like Holly Holm or her team!

Sorry longjab, but I just don't see Holm letting Mathis KO her, especially in front of her home-town fans. But this will be a 10 round war. I'm hoping/wishing for a Holm victory, because that will make Holm's showdown with Braekhus even that much bigger!!!! THE TALE OF THE TAPE >>> FOR WORLD DOMINANCE www.fightsaga.com/Fights/item/1249-Holm-vs-Mathis Todd---how do you see this as being any kind of fight at all...Mathis will do all the chasing, all the punching and most of the tagging and Holm will get all of the scores. In the end, Mathis will grumble something about the decision and that will be that. That's the story so far...will it change? Depends on who refs and who judges...IMO. TD

Todd,
Just to make sure the fight is a fair opportunity for both fighters, maybe you could suggest three judges from perhaps the East Coast and maybe one from Germany as well as a referee like Kenny Bayless to score this fight fair, being that no one from New Mexico will.
Hey, Todd, that link you put up above for the fight tale of the tape has the wrong record for Anne Sophie Mathis, claiming she is 24-16-0.
That's a crock of crap!
Try 25-1-0 with 21 KOs.
Maybe you get that fixed with the folks over at Fight Saga.
Holly only has 9 KOs and has fought a few fights than Anne, but that is because Holly runs and doesn't engage with anyone that can clean her clock for her.

LJ- Holm is also listed as having an "Orthodox" whatever ( they didn't say stance), which is also wrong.
I hate to see Mathis walk into a typical ambush. ( L.R. can speak to this off the record)
But Mathis is the real champ. Fearing nothing, fighting everyone, at home or away, she'll do her thing but she'll need roller skates to catch her. Somehow and on "SOME" judges cards and in "SOME" refs views, running backwards for 85% of the round is considered "fighting".
A boxing historian might counter that with the tactics of The Great Ali. The Great Ali bounced backwards a good bit. However, he threw many shots while bouncing backwards, countered extremely well and then pushed the fight forward a great deal. Losing a fight to The Great Ali meant your face became attractive to only a ring mat.
Mathis deserves a fair fight. Will she get one? I seriously doubt fans will see a new set of unbiased faces at ringside. But since Mathis is THE WORLD CHAMPION, I am hoping she has veto power over who refs. I would select Canadians myself...No Germans, No New Mexicans and obviously No French.

the fightsaga link I posted has the record of Mathis as 24-1-0 (21KO) > WHICH IS CORRECT. It was made before the Serrano fight. With her win over Serrano, Mathis actually has 25 wins. But like I just stated, this fightsaga page was made BEFORE the Serrano fight. So, it is correct. It does show the STANCE of Holm as being ORTHODOX > which is wrong because the STANCE of Holm has always been listed as SOUTHPAW. But even with that one minor flaw, I still think it's a really cool webpage! Look folks. Just a couple of quick points here. NUMERO UNO: ever since the renaissance-rebirth of pro women's boxing in the U.S.A. > which for now I will say began approx. in 1996 > the upcoming Mathis v Holm fight is the biggest event to take place in the sport. In America. No Laila Ali fight had this much at stake > not even friggin close; so I do NOT under any circumstances want to have to read about a Laila Ali fight having more at stake. No Christy Martin fight had more at stake. NOT EVEN friggin close. So I do NOT under any circumstances want to read about a Martin fight being "bigger" or "more important." That would just be a big steaming pile of horse apples. And I could list every sanctioned fight since 1996. Holm v Mathis is the biggest, most VIP, most mucho grande event to take place on American soil. NUMERO DOS: Mathis is an adult with lots of experience. She knows the score in New Mexico. She knows the score with Holm. Remember, she was in attendance at one of Holm's recent fights. I don't see her going in there without laying down some "must-have-points" like judges etc. NUMERO TRES: Holm will still win. Mathis didn't even compete for 2 years. Her recent fights against Yankovich/Serrano don't impress me. BFD I say to those wins on her record. The real fight for "WORLD DOMINANCE" will come next spring when Holm finally travels to the other side of the Atlantic. And I'm not talking about France..... Love it or hate it folks, what's right is right, and trust me, I'M RIGHT!!!

Love it or hate it folks, what's right is right, and trust me, I'M RIGHT!!! Plenty of yardsticks to apply in judging the SIZE of a fight... The Key Question, WHO IS THE BETTER FIGHTER? I wish a real answer for both ladies and a fair fight with real unbiased judging...if those criteria are met, then this could actually be a fight and not a gym workout in front of the hometown crowd. Is there a pay per view available? How many seats in the venue? How many journalists following it? Is there a telecast back to France? Will Mike Tyson be ringside? I see Mathis doing her thing, banging hard and forward non-stop. She is the total package fighter and I expect her to train at altitude. I also assume Holm will fight a fight that her trainer strategizes. I think he gets it-- Holm getting chased for 10 rounds = a LOSS. She has to fight. This is contingent on NEW - NEUTRAL JUDGES/REF being appointed for the fight. If not, then it might not be a youtube fight. And that is the truth. TD

TD, all true, all true, all true, all true........ it would most likely be a tremendous motivating factor for Mathis if her boxing inspiration Tyson was at ringside. Too bad this one never happened. Would it have lived up to expectations??? In my opinion, yes it would have!!! And therefore most likely the biggest fight on the women's side of the sport to have taken place within the U.S.A. But since it didn't take place, Mathis v Holm moves up to numero uno. www.squidoo.com/lailaalivsnatascharagosinaps >> if Holm loses, I just might print off this whole thread and video myself having to "eat my own words" and then post that video here, just to show I can own up to being wrong!!! a preview of me "eating my own words" if Holm loses!!! WARNING: a very scary video > please don't let children under the age of 9 watch this!!!!!!!!!!!!!! www.youtube.com/watch?v=qyMpVtdtzO4

some video www.youtube.com/watch?v=oJ4Xa4cJnCMalso - abqjournal.com has just posted a Rick Wright written story on the fight. HOLM'S NEXT FOE PACKS A PUNCH "Certainly, in the world of women's boxing, it's a fight worthy of advance billing."

some video www.youtube.com/watch?v=oJ4Xa4cJnCMalso - abqjournal.com has just posted a Rick Wright written story on the fight. HOLM'S NEXT FOE PACKS A PUNCH "Certainly, in the world of women's boxing, it's a fight worthy of advance billing." "...fight worthy of advance billing..."---now that's a blockbuster endoursement! Is he advising you to pay your cable bill early? Or is he saying, Yes, Print 10 Extra Copies of The Fight Poster! Back to the fight, Mathis is probably the most interesting female fighter on the planet today. She can take a punch, she has long reach, she moves well for a tall fighter, but oddly, she works great inside. She can round her shots. Lamare hit her with a shopping cart full of canned hams and it seemed to do nothing. And Mathis whaled/wailed on Lamare, which is NOT easy for a taller fighter to do. Mathis never seemed winded while Lamare did. I don't think Mathis has ever taken a liver shot and that has to be the tallest liver-zone on any woman fighting today. Mathis is a real female Rockem-Socken robot. Sophie's biggest challenge-- will the judges score higher for the more she dances backwards? If so, we could see two fighters dancing in circles and exchanging memos. I hope we do. Sophie---just get in there and start finding the ropes with your back, then reverse directions, every now and then, jump forward with a punch and then run to the side and start motating those feets! Keep it up non stop...if you get into a clinch, spin left and push right, then bound along the ropes and push out a jab while you escape. Do this non-stop! And we'll have a winner! TD ( ps-- train hard for 3 weeks at elevation or pay the consequences)
