Folks,
Let me hear or see what you think of this possible match up.
Why not Christy Martin versus Terri 'Road Warrior' Blair.
They are both welterweights, they are roughly the same height and reach, they both can box and go toe to toe, and they both are capable of beating each other.
Oh also, they are both daughters of Coal Miners!
Terri is from Kentucky and Christy, originally from Mullins, West Virginia, just a state over.
Forget the very deceptive record of Terri Blair, being that most of her losses were political decisions in the town of the 'homey'.
Also consider this: Terri Blair KOed Sumya Anani twice and Anani was the lady that stunned Christy Martin with her first loss of her career.
I think this smatch up could and would be women boxing's 'Fight of The Century.
These two would have a slugfest for ten rounds!
It would far outreach the 'Million Dollar Ladies' match, had that ever happened!
If this match were put on the undercard of a major PPV and shown, it would probably steal the show!
Well, folks, what do you think?

It is my understanding that Anani was winning both those fights right up till getting knocked out. To bad. A Martin / Anani rematch would be interesting with Martin avenging her loss.

Allan,
I was at both fights. In the first match, I went in rooting for Sumya to win; however, she fought the wrong fight - Blair's fight.
Anani went into that fight the champion, but instead of defending her belt by boxing Blair, she went toe-to-toe with her and it was a BIG gift to Terri. She was racking up the points on the inside and by the time the 10th round was about to start, I had Blair ahead on points and the only way Anani could win the fight was to either KO Blair or knock her down a number of times in the 10th; however, exactly the opposite happen. Blair knocked her down late in the 10th, Sumya got up, but the referee looked in Sumya's eyes and waved it over with about 30 seconds left in the fight.
In the rematch in Louisville, Kentucky - the first time Terri Blair ever fought in front of her hometown fans - she knocked Sumya Anani down about five times - three of which were in the 8th or 9th round and the referee stopped it at that point.
As far as I know, that was also the last time Sumya Anani has fought.
I don't think you will ever see a Martin-Anani rematch.

Thanks for your view. Sumya had a different view. I wouldn't mind seeing those fights

Thanks for your view. Sumya had a different view. I wouldn't mind seeing those fights Sumya said the ring was padded like you wouldn't believe, thus favoring a stationary puncher like Terri. Might be sour grapes, or might be the reason why she faded late.

But who was used to fighting on a soppy-sponging-thick padded ring is the favorite. Nava v. Oliveras #2 was a super padded ring, almost like fighting in mud, but Nava fought the better fight even though it was a DRAW on Alejandra Marina Oliveras home "turf". TD

Rick,
As far as the ring being padded, Sumya never told me about that after the first fight. She asked me after that fight what I thought of it and I told her that she fought Terri Blair's fight by fighting her toe-to-toe in lieu of her fight by defending the belt.
I then told her if and when there was a rematch, which didn't take long, she (Sumya) would then have to take the fight to Terri, which then cost Sumya dearly.

Hey, Allan!
What's going on with Jeannine?
I'm sure the Germans want no part of her now, but are there any other fight prospects coming up?

No. she has nothing on the go right now Allen--- did WBAN suspend Jeannine's Title ( actually their ranking) for not fighting within a year? That was Dee-o's hard and fast rule, the last time I checked. TD

Boxrec has dropped jeannine and Ina from their rankings. Dee hasn't yet but she probably will if they don't post some upcoming action soon. When Dee drops someone from the ranking she reranks them as soon as they get some action happening. Fair is fair.

You cannot take a title away for a one year "dry spell". Especially NOT in womens boxing. You cannot suspend a title for a one year "dry spell"...its absurd. But its also sad. You have a great champion who fans love to watch, who banged her way to the title and what happened to the rematch? Or the step up challenge? Or a Inter-Canadian showdown? Its hard to say, but DAM, a CHAMPION can't get a fight!?!?!?!? Maybe ESPN will have a comment... TD

Longjab Elina Tissen has called out Jeanine and Lindsay Garbatt but she never did fight Garbatt, she claim she was sick and decided not to fight her instead she took on flyweight Juilette winter for the Featherweight title. I have know doubts that tissen will win this next fight, she robbed stacey reile and she will probably rob from this other girl, unless she knockes her out. I don't think it is possible to beat tissen with out Koing her, due to the crookedness of her team.
