nwitimes.com/sports/local/article_4f93cf30-89d0-5bad-95d2-fffd23a6b2f1.htmlHAMMOND, IN Gary native Mary McGee will spend this weekend trying to rinse a nasty, unfamiliar flavor from her mouth. For the first time in her nearly five-year professional career, McGee experienced the bitter taste of defeat when she fell to Brooke Dierdorff on Friday night in One In A Million Boxing Inc.'s "Fight Night 2010" at the Hammond Civic Center. Returning from a 10-month layoff during which McGee (17-1, 10 KOs) lost her brother, Maurice, and former promoter, Octavius James, to unexpected deaths, she simply couldn't match Dierdorff (6-4-1, three KOs) for six rounds in their lightweight, non-title fight. McGee gave a valiant effort, though, as she rallied in the final two rounds before ultimately succumbing to a unanimous decision in favor of her opponent from Somonauk, Ill. "Mary's used to the caliber of fighters that she can just bully and throw her combinations and nobody fights back," Dierdorff said. "I'm gonna keep coming, so that's the difference." Dierdorff controlled the first four rounds with several hard charges that repeatedly pinned McGee against the ropes. McGee, however, opened the fifth round with a relentless attack and ended the sixth by drawing blood from Dierdorff's nose. Still, McGee's late emergence wasn't enough in the end. "I've always said I think Mary's a great skillful fighter," Dierdorff said. "I just didn't think she had stepped up to the caliber of fighters that she should have been fighting, and I'm a true champion." McGee's WBC International Super Lightweight and NABC World Lightweight titles were not at stake. Dierdorff's WBC International Lightweight belt wasn't up for grabs, either, but there's no doubt each fighter's pride was on the line. Visibly shaken by her first loss, McGee denied interview requests after the fight. "I just want to be by myself please," she said. "I don't want to talk."

This is why you don't suit up fighters with weak opponents and call them champions, when they are not...however its a good thing she didn't go against any higher class opponents. Brooke isn't the top fighter in her class. I am surprised people didn't realize this sorta thing could happen i mean its becoming a regular thing when fake champions Kina Vs Maureen shea Delgado vs Reile Chris Namus vs Florez
are brought into the light and are blinded by a knockout punch starting with a big L for lose.
Mary can be a good fighter but she must avoid straw bag opponents.

I do wish Brooke had a little bit more respect for her opponents: check out:http://nwitimes.com/sports/columnists/nate-ulrich/article_6e6f35f7-44ec-5b48-b486-2cdcee3570c7.html

Congrads to Brooke. You are now a "super bad-ass". Because you have SBA rating, your gonna have to step it up, fly to germany and take out Menzer! Only a SBA can do that! Can you make 126?

Brooke,
You have them running scared! A SBA will do that to a protected German fighter every day of the week!
But, be careful, their modus operendi is to pretend they won't offer you the fight, then reverse that and try to catch you a little soft and NOT ready. And make no doubt about it, Menzer is a SBA too. She throws canned hams from the right. She stays cool and stays straight in ( not much head movement).
The lady you have got to spar with to get ready for Menzer is Lill Tyson. Sandy whipped Menzer's butt, but lost a decision. That's the other problem, should you fight for a title in Germany, the ONLY way to win is by laying Menzer out. No if ands or buts about it. Its KO her or come home with an L.
But if there are a few titles on the line, then you should be able to insist on NON-GERMAN JUDGES, NON-GERMAN REF. and A FAIR PACKAGE OF ACCOMODATIONS.
Brooke,a fight with Menzer will be the toughest fight of you career...but, I would put down a few Gs on you IF the judges were NOT germans and IF the REF was NOT-GERMAN. ( reason- he'll stop the fight quickly if it means a W for Menzer.)
Sparring with Sandy is the key. She knows how to beat Menzer and she too is an Super Bad-Ass! STAY IN SHAPE. WATCH MENZER ON TAPE. THERE ARE AT LEAST 2 WAYS TO BEAT HER AND YOU ALREADY HAVE ONE OF THOSE WAYS DOWN PAT!!!!!!!!!!
Don't worry about the scuttlebut regarding McGee...you won it like a true champion. No doubts!

Yea we will see if we ever get the chance to fight her! There are several others I want to fight too!! Just have to wait and see what happens from here! I would be much better served if I had the opportunities as some of these girls do IE a promoter and $ to back me but I don't have the luxury of all that... And yep I did beat her in her home town UD so no ifs ands or buts about that one... Thanks for the support! Brooke

Brooke...don't underestimate your market-ability! Menzer needs you as much as you would like to fight her! Great fighters ( not boxers) fight other great fighters!
Stay tight! Stay frosty! Stay ready! And look at some tape.
Know this, they are listening right now!

Will do! Everyone who knows me knows I'm a true road warrior! I don't have a promoter or home town advantage over anyone I always travel to their home towns!! Everyone knows I only fight the best out there and top ranked fighters and I never back down from any one!! That is the way that every fighter should be! Thanks again for the support and will see what happens next from here with my career!! Brooke

Brooke,
They are pulling video on you right now! Two back to back WBAN fighters, one a hot blond, the other a tuff German should be destined to meet in a teutonic titanic title bout of the titans! ( its a T -thing).
IF they want a real fair fight AND one they can sell in the USA, they need non-german judges and a non-german ref. Bring in some Frenchies, they dislike everyone!
IF they want a real promotable fight they will bring your team with you for 2 weeks to give you time to settle and work out and maybe do some PR. "Ick bin ein Berliner" was JFKs famous endearing quote to Germans. How bout "Ick bin ein Berliner Beater".
And Brooke, this will be the challenge of your career. Menzer has tremendous support that gives her a huge strategic advantage but Menzer is a Fighter, and when two REAL FIGHTERS MEET, THE SPARKS WILL FLY FAST AND FURIOUS!
Know what you are worth, which is alot in my opinion. And remember, with a German last name and blond hair, you may be more German than Menzer. That makes promoting the fight a Natural.
Stay in Shape! The word can come at any time! Its an old trick and one I'm sure you've heard many times; "WE DON'T WANT YOU", then a day later, "BE HERE TOMORROW NIGHT, YOU FIGHT ON SATURDAY."
Anybody interested in a real championship bout gives both Champions equal chances and of course promotes the hell out of it!
Stay Frosty!
