Friday, June 5 2009 Holly Holm23-1-3 (6 KO) Age: 27 Height: 5 ft 8 in Last Weight: 145.5 lbs From: Albuquerque, NM WBAN #1 ranked welterweight www.wban.org/biog/hholm.htm vs. Duda Yankovich11-0-0 (5 KO) Age: 32 Height: 5 ft 6 in Last Weight: 137.75 lbs From: Sao Paulo, Brazil unranked by WBAN* www.wban.org/biog/dyankovich.htmIsleta Casino & Resort, Albuquerque, New Mexico 10 rounds for WIBA Welterweight world title*Yankovich is unranked by WBAN since April 2009 under our one-year inactivity rule. She had been the #6 ranked junior welterweight. Her last fight was in April 2008, an eight-round unanimous decision over Darys Pardo (Colombia), the same opponent over whom she won the WIBA Junior Welterweight title in November 2006. Her highest ranking ever by WBAN was #4 at junior welterweight, from December 2007 to March 2008 - her ranking fell due to what our scoring saw as more significant activity by other junior welterweights, notably Natalie Brown (Canada) and Kristy Follmar (USA).
Holm has been ranked at some level by the WBAN system since September 2002 and has been #1 ranked at welterweight since September 2005 apart from a six month period during which she was ranked on WBAN at junior middleweight, also at #1.
Holm fought 11 fights at junior welterweight and she won the IFBA Junior Welterweight title by unanimous decision over Chevelle Hallback (USA). Her only pro boxing loss came at this weight in June 2004, when her corner stopped a fight with Rita Turrisi (Italy) in which Holm had sustained a deep cut under her left eye.

HOlly holm will definetly beat Duda, i am sorry but i don't see her pulling an upset on holm. I would be suprised if she did but. Duda hasn't faced many upranked fighters besides she hasn't fought in a ring in a while. Once that bell rings even if Duda may have trained it will go down the drain just like Sanders. Holm vs Sanders will be just like Holm vs Yankovich. Yankovich hasn't been much in America let alone New Mexico so you have enviromental damage and inexperience then ring dust let alone lack of high level fighting. Duda has the cards stacked against her. If holm loses this match.....I will shocked....and dismayed..

She did, TKO4. Yankovich was never down but Holm broke her nose and the doc stopped it. Here is a report I was sent Holly destroyed Duda. Gave her a real beating. Holly went to work from the opening bell. No dancing, no feeling out. Just power shots from the southpaw. Seems Duda didn’t know how to fight a lefty. The only amazing thing is that Duda lasted 4 rounds. A real beatdown not your typical Holm fightland there's a full report with photos by Chris Cozzone at
newmexicoboxing.com/fights2009/06-isleta.html
Extract:
That a knockout was in the works, was evident from the first couple of flurries by Holm. With but a few moments of circling one another, Holm opened up with a big one-two that sent Yankovich reeling backward. Repeated her success with one-two’s in succession, Holm had her foe in a completely defensive posture. Yankovich, five pounds lighter and the much smaller, physically, did little but weather Holm’s storm. In the second, a huge lead left broke Yankovich’s nose. Within seconds, her face was dipped in red, but that didn’t stop Holm from coming at her. Holm continued to dominate. With the crowd oohing and ahhing every big punch, Holm mixed up hooks and body shots to her forward pace. By now, Yankovich, trying desperately to fight back in rare moments, was a mess, and a kayo ending was evident. Shortly into the fourth round, Referee Rocky Burke halted the action for the ringside doc to check out Yankovich’s shattered schnozz. Upon the physician’s advice, the bout was halted at :32.

remember Mary Jo Sanders vs Holly Holm Yes, but where are the similarities? Holly Holm dominated Duda Yankovich, so I don't see why Duda would want a rematch with her. Duda should probably stick to the junior welters. Chris Namus down the road for a regional rival?

Duda should probably stick to the junior welters. Chris Namus down the road for a regional rival? Mary like Duda came and had a strategy but once she got in their same just like Mary dude to ring rust forgot everything however the only thing in this situation was that Holly didn't prolong this fight she ended quicker.....alot quicker. Duda like most fighters don't like ot get embarssed and will either try to redeem them selves or stay away. If she stays away then I wonder who Holm and Duda willl fight next? Chris Namus and duda fighting i don't think happening 1 Didn't Chris namus have some problem...if i remember right 2 Duda may fight her but probably around 2011 or 2012 but i am just guessing.

Sounds good, if Holms promoters can get Mathis to New Mexico! Emery vs. Holm that would also be a great fight but, Emery hasn't fought in a while. There is alot of great match-ups for Holm the thing is there is no "build-up" for any of them because no one else is really active. Holm has no year long gaps in her career that is why she's so sharp. They have built Holm into a realistic success story, she's not the daughter or relative of a famous person she has made a legacy on her own. What would be great is if more female fighters had that opportunity. It's too bad...

She fights regularly, and is in her prime.

She fights regularly, and is in her prime. That is why i say Holly Holm should fight some of the actual active boxer for a little while or do to rematches because everyone doesn't have good fully funded promoters like Fresquez promotions. because her last 3 opponents were only fights of the year were her.
