Saturday, November 29 2008 Juarez vs Lovato Mariana Juárez 17-5-3 (9 KO) WBAN #8 ranked flyweight vs. Mónica Lovato 12-1-0 (4 KO) WBAN #10 ranked bantamweight Arena México, (FD, Mexico) shaping up as a "grudge rematch", big test for Lovato on Mariana's home turf! Seems this one is now off - Ewan Whyte told me the following "The grudge match in the Arena México is off. Mariana Juárez, who claims not only that she was robbed by (two of) the judges but also that she was subjected to abuse by Monica Lovato´s people—by her mother in particular—when the two fought last year in Albuquerque, had vowed she would humiliate and ‘run over’ Lovato in front of the vast crowd (anywhere from seven to nineteen thousand can be expected) in the cathedral of Mexican boxing on the 28th November. But Lovato won´t be coming. Yesterday the promoter, Dr Fausto Daniel García, announced that “Lovato has contacted me to say that she has over exerted herself and hurt her spine, and that as a result of the pain in her back she will be unable to go through with the fight with Mariana.” He added that “knowing the capabilities of Esmeralda [Lovato’s replacement, Esmeralda Moreno) I think the public will end up better off."
