news.sky.com/story/998321/boxer-adams-breaks-more-barriersGreat Britain's Nicola Adams, who became the first female boxing champion at the Olympics, is celebrating another first after winning an award at the British Boxing Writers' Club's annual dinner.
It was the first time in the club's 61-year history that women have been invited.
The 29-year-old boxer from Leeds won the award for outstanding services to the sport.
After accepting the award she told Sky Sports News: "It's fantastic for me definitely and for all the female boxers in the years to come.
"It means a lot and it shows women can do just as good and it's nice to get that recognition and respect"
The flyweight defeated Chinese boxer and world number one Ren Cancan in the final to claim the first Olympic women's boxing gold medal in history.
She said she is getting used to being an Olympic champion, adding she was looking forward to more success in the future.

That's good news and I hope she makes the final cut. I wish Claressa Shields could get the same sort of attention in the USA, too, but for me Nicola Adams' win was the most impressive of the Olympic tournament because she faced down a world champion opponent who had previously beaten her. I hope Nicola continues to get more recognition for her hard work and achievement.
