Watch the knockdown in the 6th round of this right in this video of the entire combat. Muñoz said in an interview afterwards that she didn't know of any rule that says the ref can help a fighter up again. Not sure I do, either! www.youtube.com/watch?v=I60GLhqTmPgOf course, Muñoz should have killed off her there and then. I suppose that's the usual story when fighting away from home...

Martin---super suspect judging/ref'ing. It looked the ref was about to stop the fight when Chris went down in the 6th, then, he does help her up. NOT fair. Further, look at the scores: Victor Hugo Tórtora 98-96 < Munoz judge: Carlos Mazzo 95-99 < Namus judge: Santos Alvarez 95-98 < Namus So the 6th was a 1 point round for Munoz on Mazzo's card? !?!?! With a knockdown and a standing 8 count? And total domination of the round by Munoz??? Camon, that's at least a 2 point round and possibly 3. Judge Alvarez basically said that Munoz won ONLY the 6th. If it wasn't a "that's boxing" situation, it would be a joke. TD

TD,
I haven't watched the whole fight yet, but I did view a clip of the 6th round and I'll tell you that referee had no d**n business helping Namus off the canvas!
His job is only to count it off and, if Namus gets off the canvas on her own volition before he reaches ten, he is to make sure she is ready to continue or wave the fight off and over if she doesn't respond to his simple questions or commands to confirm her ability to continue the fight.
It looked to me that Munoz tagged Namus one good one on Namus' glass chin and she collapsed and wasn't going to get up on her own - at least not until the count got to eight; therefore, the referee cheated and screwed Munoz out of an apparent KO victory!
This one should really be scrutinized by the fair-minded Uruguayan boxing fans and force another investigation, but it would be a lot easier if Namus just gets honest and admits she lost and mails the belt or belts to Munoz in Spain, but we can just bet that isn't happening!

LJ--Agreed, it was very illegal ref'ing. I tried to give him the benefit of the doubt--Namus went down hard, looked like she was OUT, but she recovers almost exactly as he grabs for her. Almost as if HE had decided it was over, then was surprised Namus got up. And she got up fairly easily.
However, the same Ref gives Namus many breaks during the rest of the round. He holds off Munoz, extends the time after a count and before letting them fight. And he does this without a blink, in broad "ring-light". All in all, a HOMER REF caught RED HANDED.
Then you look at the judges scores--- I spit on those scores. Pathetic. A terrible way to get a victory. But I've seen worse. Plenty worse. And plenty often.

Chris Namus wasn't worth fighting again Loli, I am sorry for what happen to you but fighting Chris over was not worth it. Chris isn't undefeated, and is as protected or even more like a catchers mitt or a baby laying in a 100 huge pillows, they didn't let you have the win the first time, what made you think they would give you a win the second time. Loli you have had a rough career, a really rough career but they are only hurting themselves by doing this in the end because when history thinks of Namus and Uraguay boxing, they will say corrupt just like South Korea. Will people go to Namus next boxing show only time will tell.
Worst places to go boxing: 1. South Korea 2. Uraguay 3. New Mexico lol
