I am glad to see that Lamare has arrived early and is giving herself a chance to get acclimated. I also hope that Lucia Rijker makes sure the Lamare team understands that fighting at the altitude of Albuquerque takes extra preparation and fitness, because Lamare is coming from sea level to fight Holm a mile high. Especially in the light of this report: You can watch it here: www.dailymotion.com/tag/super/video/xqkvg_boxe-lamare-vs-mathisI was a big Lamare fan. Key word WAS. This fight was sloppy beyond belief. I have never seen so many pushed, missed, ineffective punches in one single fight. Worse, it was stopped prematurely and I had Lamare winning 59 - 57 going into the 7th round. Neither one of these ladies would last 5 rounds with Lucia or Sumya or Christy. Strangely they both seemed to run of gas almost by the third round. Mathis kept pushing a jab, even when Lamare was 4 steps away. Lamare fought like she never knew that Mathis was 5 or more inches taller. But she threw every punch with evil intent, only problem, Mathis was too far away to catch those bombs. Lamare did knock Mathis back on her heels in round 3, 4 and 5. Round 6 was the first round I scored for Mathis...even with those pushed punches. Both girls might have been victims of nerves because they seemed to tire within 30 seconds into a round. The fight was stopped incorrectly BUT the ref may have seen both ladies almost brawling and falling around the ring and assumed they both were in bad shape. To her credit,Mathis just kept pushing those punches outward. Not the fight I was expecting and certainly NOT the fight that someone reviewed. But hey, watch it for yourself. TD Holm has had plenty of practice making aggressive opponents chase her at altitude until they fade, and she's naturally heavier than Lamare, though not as tall as Mathis - she's very fit and lives and trains at the high altitude she will be fighting at. This could be Holm's toughest challenge yet. I have been a long time fan of Lamare since she was a top amateur and I will be very interested to see if she can get Holm in trouble early in the fight and then keep the pressure on, which is what she must do to end Holm's run of wins at home. Welcome back to the fold of Lamare fans, TD

Jeez Dee, you dredge up Ms. Lamare's toughest fight of career as a welcome??? The stoppage was way too early, a winded Lamare looked like a fighter about to be knocked out. It was her worst fight but she rebounded like the lion she is.
Anne Mathis is a great fighter and she exposed Lamare's wind-lungs weakness and yes that is a real factor in a track meet at 5000ft.
BUT Ms. Lamare is a REAL fighter, exciting to watch and is a welcome addition to the USA fight scene. Why is it when a fighter chases a track star, the track star is NOT DQ'd for failing to fight?
WELCOME MYRIAM! IT WILL BE GREAT TO SEE YOU FIGHT IN THE USA. YOU CAN ONLY WIN BY A KNOCKOUT.

PS- Dee, you are banned from future welcoming committees.

Ms. Lamare, on her worst day, in her worst fight is like 30 times more exciting to watch than Holm. She is a true fighter. But she's not perfect.
So, can she adjust to altitude and fight a full 9 and half rounds if she has to? Hell YES!
Can she cut the ring off on Holm? Hell YES!
Can she rip the body and wear out Holm? Hell YES!
Can she win the fight if Holm is still standing at the end of the tenth?
Will Dee's rating system take into account a homer decision, if it goes that way and turns out that way...?

Lamare is currently #2 junior welterweight and Holm is #1 junior middleweight. www.wban.org/rankings/rankings_why.htm explains how I handle weight classes and catchweight situations. It gives me some discretion, so let's see what develops at the fight before jumping to any conclusions. Meanwhile let's keep feeding TD his memory pills so he stays high on Lamare. I prefer this version of his take on her.
