www.saddoboxing.com/6937-holm-vs-sanders.html Holly Holm will fight Mary Jo Sanders on June 13th in Albuquerque. This is the contest many have wanted. However, the judges will vote for Holm and the referee will save her from Sanders when the going gets tough like in the Saccurato match. Since the fight is in Albuquerque, let Team Sanders pick the officials. Agreeing to an Albuquerque venue is the biggest mistake of Sanders’ career, in my opinion.

Sanders isn't the one who needs to get prepared. Holm held and headbutted and ran her way to decisions. Saccurato beat her and these judges in NM seem to be biased. I do not like this at all because Holm is probably going to run and pitty pat and they'll give her the decision over the best active fighter in women's boxing.
This better be on ESPN or FOX and not on ppv.

Holm V. Sanders...Mary Jo will need "roller skates on" to catch HOLM. This fight has the potential to be a stinker, a refund request driver. Refer to Christy's "fight" with Holm...she said something to effect, "what fight? Holm ran away the entire time." I only say one short clip but it was NOT what I would call a "conflict"...more like a track meet.
The rest of this card is awesome!
Could be the first time that every OTHER fight down the card exceeds the MAIN EVENT by 5 to 8 times the excitement!
Can't wait to see who the "Hawaiian Mongoose" ( < gotta love that ring name) takes on! She's got the heart of a champion!!!!
Hey, somebody tell Stay Lo that this is NOT a Sunday Fight or a Sunday Phone Call or a Sunday Email.

Sanders is naturally heavier and stronger than Holm and she has the boxing skills to catch her and make her fight. Mary Jo will be much more able to cut off the ring and make Holly pay for her mistakes than any previous opponent was. Sanders is capable of finishing what Saccurato showed you can start when Holm gets flustered. Holm will need her "A" game (and maybe then some) to win this - even in NM. C.Martin went to ABQ expecting an easy win against a local "nobody" and got a big surprise, she couldn't adapt to Holm's style. Sanders was at the Hallback-Holm fight and will know exactly what she has to do to win this with speed and pressure, both of which she can bring. Holm WILL get caught in this fight, and then we may see what she's got inside, perhaps for the first time in a regular boxing bout - she was KO'd by a good puncher (T.Hill) in a kickboxing bout 5 years ago when things got out of control and she tried to brawl. Check their fight records and background at www.wban.org/biog/hholm.htmwww.wban.org/biog/mjsanders.htmBest fight on the card may be Hallback vs Garside, though ...

How did this topic go from a discussion about a fight between competitive female boxers to Mia St. John?
Hopefully, Sanders will bring her A game, catch Holm, not get headbutted and not get screwed, and not do what Chevelle Hallback did against Holm... which, of course, was nothing.
Hallback vs Garside looks like it should be really good. If Chevelle doesn't stop being aggressive, she should score a knockout.

they are using all WIBA champions on this show (Hallback, Garside, Olszewski, Dunaway) and they arent even acknowledging them as WIBA champs on their website and press releases. that has me annoyed. they refer to Garside as the IBA champ but she does not hold the IBA title.

Well I will explain Christian, you see i was saying the same thing as you, i was telling everyone that i hope Mary Jo sanders trains hard and has some good sparring partners and gets all the experience she needs for the fight against holly holm or she will end up like reid vs the hawaiian mongoose and mia vs diedroff because she just like mia, and elena similar to sander did not have a regular fight schedule unlike Holly holm. thats what i was saying..

Wow, That's all I can say about this card! It's so very frustrating to see a lot of the "champs" run away from a challenge. This card is refreshing. I commend the promoter and the fighters for looking at the BIG picture (GROWTH!). Hopefully this will be the first of many REAL womens boxing cards!I like Hallback-Garside and today I noticed that Eileen's opponent is Carina! That is a very interesting bout. We were on the same National Team in 2002, Eileen and Carina were sparring partners. I think Eileen should have had a few more fights before this match up but with us fem-boxers (especially ones that have good amateur backgrounds) it's difficult to build your pro record (no one wants to risk fighting us or they want more $$$$$) so we have to take big steps and rise to the occasion. I just hope the main event isn't boring, that would really be a disappointment! All The Best! Ms.TOO BAD

I know you've been posting on the larger forums but it's good to see you back here. The danger of toe-to-toe with Holly Holm is the headbutt. She leads with her head. Your charge Shadina Pennybaker and others know this well. Mary Jo Sanders will have to avoid this.

If Mary Jo doesn't get lazy like Hallback and presses the issue, avoiding the headbutts, she should be good to go... unless the judges steal the fight. This is Mary Jo Sanders we're talking about here, people. I believe that she is the best pound for pound fighter in women's boxing and that she can win this fight with ease because Holly Holm seems to lead with her head, pitty pat, and then run away. Sanders is a lot faster than many people think, and this is gonna be a great butt-whipping if she does it right.
Justin, comparing Mia St. John to Mary Jo Sanders is like comparing Haywood Workman to Michael Jordan... it's not even close. Mia could've trained her butt off; she would not have beaten Brooke Dierdorff because Dierdorff is in a completely different class. Reid was very competitive in her fight against Eileen and Elena has even implied that she feels she won that fight. Let's be honest here; Holly Holm hasn't been winning fights because of her own effort. Ann Marie Succurato won that fight but got screwed by the judges. Hallback didn't fight until the end; the same with Belinda Laracuente. Holm leads with her head, holds a lot on the inside, and her fights aren't exciting unless she's in there with someone who's trying to fight her.
Neither fighter has a lot of power, despite what the trainers are saying. I look for Mary Jo to close the distance and hammer Holly. Holly will try to score in combos from the outside and charge in with her head, but Sanders will counter her with left hooks to the body and turn her. Holm will turn this into an ugly holding and headbutting affair as she has with some of her other fights, and Mary Jo's patience will be tested. But in the end and regardless of what the judges say, Mary Jo Sanders will be the winner.

That's the key to this fight: Sanders being able to cut off the ring. For those claiming Holly has all the advantages, the important one will be the size of the ring. If he ring is small, Holm could be in trouble. Garside is hungry and Hallback is past her prime. Jeannine should win easily, with SHOULD being the operative word!

I think you'll be in for a surprise, Rick. I'm taking Hallback to win this. Chevelle's problem against Holm was that she hadn't been in the ring in a while and that annoying habit of hers to back off once she has her opponent in trouble. I don't understand that; I've said that Chevelle could've knocked Laura Serrano out if she hadn't started doing that crap. This is gonna be a fight and I hope Jeannine wants to fight and I hope her tummy is ready for what it's gonna absorb.

Rick,
As far as Holly Holm being, as you put it, "Untouchable", I think you're going to see that myth exposed and dispelled on June 13th, at least I hope so. I hope Mary Jo touches her so much, they'll have to scrape what's left of Holly off the canvas, especially if Holm leans in with her head.
I hope Mary Jo steps back and delivers an uppercut, sending Holm into dreamland or to the moon.
That should teach her about putting her head into your work inside a boxing ring.

Longjab longjab, after watching the horror of the Susi K vs Mary O fight..I have only one line to say: I don't want know mo stupid fights...and horrible endings..no mo stupideo fights...I just heard about Marcela Acuna beating down a totally outofshape woman and the sad things is the woman only wanted money... its sad because Macela Acuna was on a dancing show and Sos mi vida but she couldn't even fight Oliveras..she reminds me of Ali you know the female one she was all was on shows like the Parkers, Girlfriends but never uplifted the problems of the sport..know that we have some hard working showstoppers like Mary Jo Sanders and Holly Holm. [glow=red,2,300]I just want to see rounds with action and passion not crap shipped from Germany or Trinidad nor slipped soap wet crap from Russia with love from Natascha. but May 31st and June13 real action with power and roar of the rebirth of women boxing spring the best show of great boxers for a great fights.[/glow]
