Does anybody know what she is going to do career wise, now that she's retired?

thats a good question. i dont know what she is going to do now that shes retired. i do know she made 750,000 euros in her last fight, which is over a million dollars, the biggest purse ever made by a female boxer. so i think she is set financially.

She works as a boxing commentator/expert for ProSieben, the tv channel which is broadcasting Susi Kentikian's fights.

She would be a great ambassador for the sport.

It's not like she has to worry about money any time soon. She is a well-known celebrity in Germany (her last fight was seen by 9 million tv viewers), and she made reportedly about 10 million euros during her whole career.

She would be a great ambassador for the sport. Yah I guess so, because she is rich and has had a lot of fights

She would be a great ambassador for the sport. Yah I guess so, because she is rich and has had a lot of fights I was thinking more along the lines of her good sportsmanship. Example: When she had the disputed draw with Elena Reid, she offered her an immediate rematch.

She knew full well she'd lost - as far as most people were concerned - the first bout; I seem to remember her face and her tentative raising of Reid's arm.
I wonder if MarĂa Jesus Rosa, who pushed Halmich all the way, was similarly offered a second fight? (And to mention in passing that the Spanish woman has never fought since, which is a pity, as she put up a hell of a show, in my opinion).
All of this shouldn't detract from Regina's fine, fine career. But the legacy would be even firmer if she'd fought outside of Germany more. If Susi Kentikian, for example, is willing to do this, then great. Though there is always the money problem to be kept in mind: Germany+a good female boxer=potloads of dough. Elsewhere, the equation doesn't always add up.

That's what being a prizefighter is all about, really. Could she have done more? Sure. But ask any European female fighter, and they will tell you that she was instrumental in making boxing what is is there. If she stays in the sport as a trainer and an ambassador, that would be a great thing.

Well put Rick, you too Martin. I agree with Rick more than you, Martin because we all know some of the Germany fights are a little misleading especially when it comes too judging but it will do nothing to argue about her, will we bicker about her, she is eating pawn in a 14 teen story mansion and talking about tv show she will be on, however she is not a legend, she was an instrument that was used to bring boxing in Germany too new heights. That it just an instrument, that is why i though it was silly of Vaia to make a forum about her, because talk about a certain fighter from a certain place and you can have world war 3 in a instance. ;D But i hope all of yall had a Good bunch of Holidays.

Since Vicious Vaia started this string on Regina Halmich, I haved a question for you, Vaia. Since you obviously hung up your gloves too early, when are you coming out of retirement to wrap 'em up, lace 'em up, touch 'em up and put 'em up once more?

The woman (Vaia) is absolutely beautiful, that's for sure, and she was an amazing boxer. Love that myspace page. Regina Halmich and Susi Kentikian should have fought and that is a blasted shame.
