Scandinavian Cecillia Braekhus simultaneously called out the Albuquerque Homer and virtually KO’d Holly Holm in one powerful 2-minute video challenge. The Internet is buzzing with Cecillia’s Emmy contending line; “Ouch—that’s gotta hurt!” after a B-roll clip of Holm getting royally stretched by Sophie Mathis and just prior to combo throwing Cecillia banging and wobbling Mathis to a near KO!
Will Holly “meet” Cecillia in Las Vegas this July, as challenged…?
Will Cecillia have to drive the streets of Albuquerque looking for Holly Holm this July?
Will Holm continue to resort to a convoluted explanation of her reputation as a HOMER by saying, “fans don’t know what goes into making a fight”?
Will fans from the OTHER 49 states line up to buy tickets to see the sultry-sleek-strong-supple-supremely confident Cecillia skip rope while in Las Vegas?
Will the female boxing "media" recognize the bogus-oscity of only fighting at home, where every fight is another reunion with the judging table, where the ref is more recognizable than an uncle and where your promoter has “shuffled” the “deck” and called it “sport”…?
Will young female fighters around the world copy the very classy yet strong call out style of Cecillia to cut thru all the BS of boxing?
If Cecillia can bake cookies in one video, then hammer Sophia Mathis around the ring and finally deliver the best dam woman to woman call out video ever made- dang, Cecillia, if you don’t find Holm in Las Vegas visit Hollywood because the camera loves you!
if the Holm-Braekhus fight does happen - hopefully Holly and Lenny dig in with both hands and HELP promote it on a 50/50 basis with Sauerland - and not just stay bunkered down in New Mexico yelling "show us the money!!" My message to Holly and Lenny would be, "you want a nice paycheck - get off your butts and help get it!!!" ----------------------------------------------------- Todd-- the cool thing about PPV is, the harder the fighters/promoter work, the larger the pay day IF the fighters contract is structured with PPV incentives, victory bonus etc.
Only a fool would NOT build those incentives into this contract. ( guess who is the biggest fool in the USA).
Kimmel Bit: Jimmy talks about 2 ladies about to fight in Vegas who do not like each other, cut to video of CB in hot micro mini, she throws a diss at HH. Cut to HH in mega hot micro mini, she threatens CB right back...CUT to JK, he is aghast as out walk CB and HH...JK stand in middle---the ladies talk class-trash, pitch the fight, then fake skuffle and accidently punch JK...then screen goes to bars...we come back as CB and HH are speeding off in two limos...JK promises MORE...then frickin hire JK to do the ring introductions...JK will talk it up for a month!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We know what male fight fans want from female PPV fights: 2 mega in shape HOTTIE/fighters, evenly matched, highly motivated, well rewarded who don't "like" each other---BLAMM, up goes the buy ins, the attendance, the national media coverage...then if the fight is a classic, think Ward vs. Gatti, you get a rematch opportunity and maybe a third.
Now if HH fights like she did in Mathis II--- the whole female side of the sport gets flushed and quickly. I still hear fans that saw just a 1/2 round of that fight say--BS- HH should have been DQ'd, what kind of fans put up with non-fighting, holding, dancing and the perp. does not get a warning, or loses a point or is NOT DQ'd in the second round--total BS...and its in evidence.
Back to this, this fight means big dollars if its promoted right. Hats off to CB, in one video she is the USA's Fan Favorite...for HH to say, "not my style to do a video", I say would $350,000 grand change your style???
This is boxing GOLD with a smart promoter...problem with locals is, they think small, act even smaller and slowly-silently kill the sport. Another marque match like this won't come along for years.
Todd---HH didn't win #2...that is my point> she's incredibly weak to have to grift a win like that.
Mike is HH's manager, right? Or is Lenny? ( be careful...)
For this fight to happen in Vegas, it takes Bob Arum and I don't think the big guy wants any part of women's boxing...however, if he has a major card, they could be 2 nd from the main...they wouldn't make diddley but a sharp promoter will use them to build broader interest...
CB/Sauerland won't fight in NM...even for 200K...OK, maybe 200K...but they get the HOMER deal and how that breaks in the USA...and HH will never get on a plane for Scan-land...so its a standoff.
Really, its better for HH...she would get really hurt in this fight...she should look to fight an 118pounder next, maybe spot them 4 rounds on the cards and then see how that shakes out.
Or maybe she could fight a dead fighter...really make it interesting!
Todd--I know your a hottie-throwdown fan, as all male fight fans are...I am too and this one is much too crossed up to ever fly straight. And as fans say, SHOW ME THE CARDS from THE LAST TWO FIGHTS...33 out of 36 fights in NM?? If it walks like a duck, squacks like a duck...its a duck...as in HH B DUCKIN CB!
Todd-- forward to Lenny ASAP...let him know that Lucia is NOT OUT TO GET HH, ok, she is via that quote but don't bring that up...just tell him LUCIA HAS MADE THIS FIGHT LENNY. YOU NEED TO TAKE A VACATION.
Should it come to pass in Vegas, the track shoes have to be left at the door. The judges/ref cannot be prior HH judges/refs...and there has to be enforcement of the rules- no holding, no running, no slapping, no hugging...
Seriously, would it be a phenomenal fight? Only if the above is applied JUST like it would be to a MEN'S championship fight. You can imagine if the PacMan held and then ran away...or if he began jumping up and down or if he jumped backward and then leaped at Floyd and hugged him, not letting him go. The cups would fly fast and furious!
Lucia is one cool cookie and no doubt knows much more that the rest of the entire world put together...and she wants to book fights for her fighters...so she puts on a diplomat hat, and looks dam good doing it! She could be SOS ( sec. of state).
HH's best fight was in the MotorCity...Mike is one amazing trainer who I have all the respect in the world for...IF he knows they have a real fight coming up...he will put together a plan and a training regime for that plan and FANS will be delighted as HH really fights. BAMS NOT HUGS! BAM AND MOVE-DON"T HUG. Amateurs don't hug...why...its frickin embarrassing.
Todd--IF you have really paid attention to anything I have said about HOMER BOXING, you would know that I never bet a dollar against a HOMER. I would have to be out of my mind to bet against a HOMER!!!
Sure Mathis has moved on, but don't be foolish-- she is NOT happy about it. Nobody who loves boxing is happy about it. Frankly, THAT is the issue determining location for this fight. Europe spit on American HOMER boxing. Why? It's a joke, it kills the sport and no one who believes in SPORT supports it.
To be fair, the USA does not have a lock on HOMER BOXING and SPORT...but I do think the Canadians are real boxing sportsmen/women and the Mexicans too. For instance, you take Holm-Mathis #2 and place that exact fight in any other world-wide venue and tell me what the fan reaction is...I'll wait for your answer.
The sport either evolves or dies. HOMERS KILL THE SPORT. That's just how I see it but I do know a fan or two who watched that fight and spit their beer on the floor.
