www.csnbayarea.com/fight-sports/news/Garcia-floors-Morales-in-four-NorCal-not?blockID=791547&feedID=8306Ryan Maquinana reports:
WBO women’s flyweight champion Melissa McMorrow (NorCal No. 10; 8-3-3, 1 KO) of San Jose earned the first stoppage win of her career Friday night with a ninth-round technical knockout of Yahaira Martinez (7-4, 4 KOs) in Kissimmee, Fla.
McMorrow told CSNBayArea.com before the fight about her interest to unify titles with Chico’s Ava Knight (NorCal No. 7; 10-1-3, 5 KOs), who earned a landmark points victory over WBC flyweight boss Mariana Juarez (35-6-3, 16 KOs) in Mexico City two weeks ago.
“Of course I would love that fight,†McMorrow said. “Ava and I have very different styles, so for one, it would a good fight. While making a fight like that is never easy because of the politics of boxing, I think I would win it."A Knight-McMorrow match could be one of the best all-USA women's matches for the near future. Amanda Serrano vs Ronica Jeffrey could also be a good one, but Knight vs McMorrow would have a WBAN #1 vs a WBAN #2 in the current rankings, with both boxers from California ... prime prospect if someone can make it happen!
