TALKING ABOUT THE DECEMBER SHOWDOWN BETWEEN THE WORLD'S 2ND AND 3RD BEST WOMEN'S WELTERWEIGHTS: Holm v Mathis my favorite line > Holm a "big barbie doll" www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZXzDHQPO79Uwhat the hell is wrong with the guy holding the camera?? did he REALLY pick Mathis to win?? so will there be another episode of "BOXING IN THE HALLWAY" for Holm v Braekhus? I believe Holm an fresquez will take on Cecilia breakhus because she a top contender, she gets alot of press an if Holm beat Cecilia b, it would help fresquez promotion an put Holm in the title an status of legendary boxer an official the number one boxer in that division an Mathis shouldnt hate holm just cuz she look a whole lot better lol

Folks,
Perhaps I am hoping against hope, but I hope Anne Sophie Mathis does indeed knock Holly Holm out - cold.
I hope she corners the dancing energizer rabbit that Holm is and bangs away on her and bangs her back into the corner when Holm tries to slip away.
All I can do is hope that Mathis is dead serious about it and delivers, stunning all the folks in New Mexico into the shocking reality that every champion can and will get beat sooner or later, including their precious preacher's daughter that can't seem to find her way out of New Mexico to even consider her so-called 'World Dominance'.
As you all can tell, I don't like Holly Holm.

LJ---IF a fight breaks out in NM, then you might see Holm KO'd. I don't think a fight will break out.
Its a pretty clear path for Holm; move, dodge, counter, maybe flurry, move, switch moves, counter. The pressure is ALWAYS on the opponent to get lucky inside the first 3 rounds or have Holm fight inside the first 3 rounds.
IF a fight happens in those first 3 rounds, then Holm will have to actually FIGHT the rest of the rounds. Which I think would be good for her.
But if Mathis follows her around, doesn't land anything of significance, flails at air and Holm lands just 3 counters over 3 rounds then Holm wins those 3 rounds. Then the pressure builds to make something happen in 4 thru 7...again, if Mathis lands nothing of importance in those 4 rounds, she's doomed...she'd be down 6 or 7 rounds for Holm to 0 or 1 for Mathis, now she's swinging like the Babe, trying to hit one out of the park BUT the air is getting thinner and thinner and Holm seems to moving away faster and faster while the fans think thats really great. ITS NOT F$(*KING FIGHTING.
The thing I like about Mathis is, she LOVES TO FIGHT. She can't wait to wail on you and you can bang her mighty fine--that just brings a back-bang from her. Her FIGHTS with Lamare were pure fighting thru and thru. Leave it to the french to embarrass HOMER "boxing".
My bookie tells me to stay away from this fight. I have half a sawbuck ready to lay off--no way, he says, your better off picking GREEN.
Anytime you sell a "fight" to fans as a bout for "world domination", you better produce a world class quality bout. Any promoter would be looking for an angle to fire up both fighters, put some winner take all cash on the line, maybe a Knock Out bonus thats 2Xs the largest purse. Ask Dana White. He knows what fighting is. Fight of the night, best KO, best single punch...cash payouts to FIGHTERS. That's why MMA will leave boxing where it belongs, in the gutter of insignificance.

Jeez Todd- you take a 4 ounce glove behind the ear and see if you can walk around.
It was a KO, did you skip the prelims? I would NOT call a KO " garbage", "garbage" is when one fighter loses but gets "awarded" a W.
But hey, MMA may not be your thing. Plenty of fans DISAGREE. There are far less questionable decisions in MMA. You have to hand it to Dana White, who can blame for the quick KO as there was a cash bonus to the KO of the Night. Read that again, CASH BONUS. So you and Dana and millions of fans disagree about MMA.
I hope Holm and Mathis is great fight. Hell, its WORLD DOMINATION! Would be a shame if that went the distance to a ? decision, would it not...

I have to agree with Tod on this. I think the pwoblem is the huge hype that the ufc futs on its cards. even during its cards its mostrly hype about the ufc. and then comes the fights and its a bit of a let down. its turnning me off ufc. Frezqueze is not above over hyping his cards in order to sell tickets. I hope the girls can live up to it.

memo to dana white...knock off the knock outs, de-promote UFC events, cover up those tasteless round card girls, give every fan a valium, lower the PPV buy in by $35, send Todd a FREE T-shirt!
GUYS--DANA IS RE-WRITING FIGHTING! Have dimbo boxing promoters ever had a merchandise program like the UFC? Or even a brand, as the UFC = Fighting, Boxing = guy with troll hair ( sorry Don). The facts are in, UFC is growing like wildfire, boxing is shrinking like a dwarf in ice water.
UFC IS THE BRAND. MAJOR LEAGUE BOXING, A FIGHTER CAN BECOME A BRAND.
My guess, Dana White ( ZUFFA) could buy and sell all the boxing promoters put together. One day, White/UFC will promote boxing. Granted, UFC is paying Manny PacMan purses, but they pay like 8 times a year. But really, have you ever seen , say more than 2 UFC mismatches? ( last night was an upset). Camon, in boxing, they are always looking for a patsy to feed to the up and comer...happens all the time.
White obviously took his cues from professional boxing and zagged to boxing's zigg.

Todd-- U R Right, White watched McMahan and said, the BRAND IS THE THING. So yes, UFC hypes UFC. What is cool about that is, White does not want fighter XYZ to beat ABC, he just wants a fair, hard fought match.
In terms of the fighting style, you either like it or not. You won't see alot of body shots in MMA because everybody has knockout power in thin gloves.
MMA is here forever as it combines the world's fighting styles. I still see a place for boxing but camon, boxing is back alley rig job. Until BOXING is a brand, with fairly conducted fights and real paydays for hard working fighters, it will be the stuff that floats on the top of the pond. That's not a knock on all the awesome fighters out there, they are in a league of their own. Sadly, that league reports to the usual mix of clueless scumbags who are out to abuse that league for their profit. Totally different than White's motivations. MMA atheletes want to be UFC fighters. Who wants to be a King fighter? Ask Mike Tyson about that one...or as his forensic accountant would ask, " Hey Don, whats the CBMT mean on all of these bills?"

Folks,
I just sent this message on Facebook to Anne Sophie Mathis (in French):
Anne,
Remember!
Holm is going to run from you and make you waste your punches trying to land one on her. You are going to have to be patience and run with her and cut that ring off on her.
Once you corner her, bang away on her and bang her back into the corner when she tries to run away.
Don't let her breathe for a moment!
Keep her in the corner and work her over, body to head.
You may have to go the distance, but as soon as she starts lowering her hands to protect her body from your nasty punches, she may be ready to go. That is when you load up to the head and a few to the body to remind her it hurts.
Remember! You cannot win this fight unless you KO her cold or TKO her.
Do it and shock the New Mexico boxing world!
Show them what true 'World Dominance' is!

most recent poll results: Holm and Mathis fight to a draw > 3% Mathis wins by decision > 5% Mathis wins with a KO > 28% Holm wins with a KO > 15% Holm wins by decision > 49% And it looks like the good folks in New Mexico are setting up the foundation for their collected and unified effort to make sure Holm never loses a fight to Braekhus. The comments made by Mike Winkeljohn that "there's no reason for her (Holm) to fight" outside of New Mexico and away from her home-town support illustrate how afraid they all must be of Cecilia Braekhus. To her credit, Braekhus has stated quite publicly that she will not fight Holm in New Mexico. I'm stating it here right now that if Mathis gets "robbed" in NM, the words of Winkeljohn will prove 100% that Braekhus is in the right. And then Braekhus and Mathis will be left to meet in the true "World Dominance" fight in women's boxing while Holly, Lenny and Mike sail out into the desired safety of the MMA - 135 farm pond. Holly talks about Dec 2nd. www.youtube.com/watch?v=l1DD3tvkmMYIf this is fight is a robbery in NM this may hurt Americas boxing scene as well as New Mexicos, I know it would hurt NM boxing scene really bad, french people might actually come to the US an protest!!
