1. I cannot believe that Menzer is afraid to visit Ms. Garside in Canada.
2. If Menzer won't rematch, then she should be delisted/de-ranked and disgraced.
3. Jeannine should issue challenges.
The sport is in disarray if NO one wants to challenge the Champion. Imagine if Buster Douglas said, " I'm afraid to fight Tyson."
Meanwhile, Jeannine has to be careful of the sucker challenge, the one that comes out of the blue at the last minute against an un-scouted fighter.

Menzer back in the sport, finally! one sad note > a horrendous boxing outfit, does Ina pick this stuff out herself? www.youtube.com/watch?v=sozhE2yVluENow we just need to get Garside back into the sport. Garside v Menzer I was The Ring's 2010 female fight of the year! What a shame if a rematch never happens

Garside v Menzer I was The Ring's 2010 female fight of the year! What a shame if a rematch never happens Todd- Menzer's outfits are NOT fashion accidents. They were born out of a strategy, IMO. You cannot tell where a LOW BLOW is on that one piece, one dark color outfit. Therefore, the ref can really make arbitrary decisions as to what is LOW. Menzer did move alot better in her "comeback" fight. She looked lighter and faster. Its very telling that the two female fighters who had one of the most exciting fights in the sport cannot book a rematch while boring fighters continue to get fights that have almost no interest outside the arena where they occur. Jeannine ought to issue a challenge ( kinda cool, the champ issuing the challenge!). And she ought to book Menzer into a crappy hotel in Canada with complimentary back bacon on her pillow. Then, Jeannine should insure that her "uncle" refs the fight and 3 " old friends" score the fight. Oh yeah, she should put a microphone in Menzer's corner with a feed to one of her "friends" sitting next to her corner. Just simple, friendly, everyday tactics... TD

Mr. J. >> you make a valid point by stating the obvious, if Garside has decided that she is finished with boxing, then any further talk about a rematch with Menzer is nothing more than sailing around in fantasy land.
But your comment about Ela Nunez, is to my way of thinking anyways, is as wrong as wrong could be. This was a perfect "tune-up" fight for Menzer. BFD if she has a less than sterling record. Nunez has had fights with Rhonda Luna, Melissa Hernandez, Lindsay Garbatt and Kina Malpartida. Nunez was the right fighter at the right time for Menzer.

I will help make that fight the biggest gate in women's boxing! First, we have to tell Ina how to book a flight, board a flight, fly a flight and of course, to not be afraid of airline peanuts. Yes- this is a DIG at Ms. Ina's lack of fighting outside of her comfort zone, which just happens to be her backyard. TD

Yes- its bittersweet...as a major talent in the sport could not get a promoter to put her talents on display for well over a year. Oh well---now comes Mom-dom, then THE COMEBACK! TD,
Let's say Jeannine wasn't pregnant and offered a challenge to Menzer for the rematch.
How could the promoter in Canada afford the costs the Germans and Universum would want to bring Menzer to Canada to fight?
The cost would be simply out of sight!
It would all be a tactic on their part to get Garside to come back to Germany for the rematch - a rematch that Jeannine would get royally screwed out of by decision, unless Jeannine were able to KO Menzer stone cold - a knockout that would take anywhere from 5 to 10 minutes for Menzer to come out of her sleep or stupor.
That is the only way Jeannine would win the rematch - if she beat Menzer within an inch of her life!
This is sad, but it is true!
I'm not saying it isn't possible, but it isn't probable.
My best regards to the Garsides and their blessed event.

Longjab LongJab--- no doubt about it. It was most likely a one way rematch clause that suited just one side of the match. My money would still be on Jeannine to stretch Menzer in der homeland. But now, that looks like an event far over the horizon. TD

thanks for the congrats guys.
the rematch clause was a multi fight agreement to be held in Germany. the first fight wouldn't have been against Ina but a fighter of Universums choosing. then a rematch with Ina. the purse for her first fight was more than double any of her previous fights. the following fights were to be much more. Good purses for her but peanuts compared to what Ina was getting. Unfortunately I think Univerums financial difficulty ended the deal. What kind of a deal could we possible offer her? In truth Jeannine loved her stay in Germany and would go back in an instant and she would win again.

Allan--thanks for sharing. "Peanuts" shouldn't even be served on airplanes let alone to a World Champion. Just calling someone WORLD CHAMPION should cost the speaker a fee paid to the Champ! ( notice how I just avoided getting billed).
Jeannine can always think back to that last round, where she dropped Menzer and truely became a real WORLD CHAMPION! ( notice how I owe a fee for that one!).
I think she is a real Million Dollar Baby to have walked into Germany a worthy challenger and to walk out a WORLD CHAMPION! ( again, I owe THE fee).

After watching UCLA-USC, Oklahoma-West Virginia, Stanford-Oregon and Kansas St.-Baylor on Saturday - Sunday I was all footballed out and instead of watching any of the NFL games - I worked on this just for fun. There are about 4 parts - just click on "older posts" when you get to the bottom of one section and it will take you to the next part...... garsidevsmenzer.blogspot.com/

Allan--great to hear from Jeannine's camp. What happened to the rematch clause?
The sport is less without her! She needs to put Menzer to sleep. To this day, that fight is second only to Mathis - Holm in how to deal with the HOMER advantage...ahead in the fight, Jeannine throws for the KO in the last round and almost gets it. Dam, that's a fighter! Boxers go to hell, fighters go to heaven! TD
