Welterweight Braekhus will fight on 02-12-2011 and she will be in the ring with American Rachel Clark. The bout will take place in Herning, Denmark. Clark has 11 fights under her belt and is 6-4-1. www.myspace.com/527233611

If Jamie Clampitt could dominate Rachel Clark then Cecilia will do the same as well. I hate to say it, I hope Rachel wins and I am wrong but I don't think I will be. Cecilia is just getting another punching bag and another story to bust the ego sadly. I heard about the fight and I wish this wasn't happening but it is. Good Luck Rachel I wish Cecilia would fight Jamie Clampitt

So why Rachel Clark for this fight? She is available and most importantly, Clark is a southpaw fighter. The plan is for Braekhus to get some ring experience against a left-handed fighter, in preparation for the highly anticipated ring-war with southpaw Holm. Hopefully, Clark can make it for the full 10 rounds, unlike the previous two boxers that took on Braekhus. Clark's manager Chuck Maguire states, "This is a wonderful opportunity for Rachel. She is a match away to have three world championship belts. We have seen many matches of Braekhus, and she is a great fighter. But it is clear we have faith in victory."

Jason, just my thoughts here, and I'm not knocking your post, but I feel that Braekhus has moved her fight game way beyond what Jamie Clampitt is able to effectively take on. Braekus fights with so much confidence and athletic grace. Her last two fights have been like watching a cat have fun with a poor little field mouse.

The Holm fight with Braekhus is not set in stone Todd I can understand what you are saying and I kind of agree. Unlike holm, Cecilia's team mixes easy fights, with mediocore fights to not burn out Cecilia's fame. Cecilia isn't that old so she is in the clear for a long lasting fame similar to Halmich. I said Jamie Clampitt because she is better than Clark and better than Victoria Cisneros and all the other opponents Braekhus is fighting. I don't know why she is fighting Clark. I would love to see Jamie fight Chevelle. One problem with having Jamie, is she doesn't fight as much as Cecilia. Holly is at the Top Then Cecilia is second Ana Sophie Mathis may get out of France to fight Cecilia Myriam Lamare is a road warrior Jessica Balogun, even though she has a lot of title and in Germany may never fight Holm Cecilia may fight Jill Emery Danielle Smith she might fight as well Monica Acosta may have a title but South American fighters haven't showen any interest of leaving their country to fight Chevelle Hallback, she had Holm bouncing in the ring, Chevelle dominated Cisneros, I think Chevelle could even beat Jamie and Cecilia. Cecilia is not invunerable, it takes a plan, a string of fights, and some good trainers to beat any champion from paper to famous or well hyped.

Jason, good news at WBAN. Anne Mathis wants to fight BOTH Braekhus and Holm in 2011. Looks like the women welterweights are gonna do some serious rockin-n-rollin this year. Which one will be standing atop the mountain when the dust has settled?

Which one will be standing atop the mountain when the dust has settled? Holm is looking at mma for the moment, Mathis is fighting chumps so far, I hope she takes on Braekhus but I don't think it will happen not because of Mathis but because of Braekhus. Mathis may fight holm even though she is in mma. IF you look up news under Cecilia, you will see that Braekhus is in deal works with Lenny for a summer fight, I don't know if it will happen or not but anything is possible

Braekhus-Clark is a total mismatch. I've seen her live a few times. She is kind of tall, decent jab but slow as molassis.

Well, Rachel has been replaced on the card with Jill Emery. Rachel, we hardly knew ya. Jill, watch out for those nasty uppercuts that Braekhus likes to deploy. Has anybody heard or read why the switch was made?

Has anybody heard or read why the switch was made? Rachel had no chance and neither does Jill. I wish they hadn't pick Jill but on a sidenote Jill Emery and both Rachel Clark both lost to Jamie Clampitt. ;D We know the Cecilia will take out Jill and get a W but Jamie fighting Braekhus could be the Ina vs Garside of 2011. Never know, got to root for some one lol ;D

The Braekhus - Emery fight may be off due to Braekhus being sick with the flu and not being able to train for the fight.

I agree that the Marcos fight isn't even worth watching or hearing about. However Cecilia fighting Jill still and always will be a bad idea, if Cecilia wanted to she could take on Maria LIndberg Also Christina Hammer has a high ko rate because of the level of opponents she is facing.
One of the fight that is worth paying attention to is Chantell Martinez vs Lisa Brown, remember Lisa beat Ana Julaton and Chantell took on Jackie Nava and was suppose to take on Marcela Acuna
Things to wonder is who is Susi K going to fight this March and who is Yessica Bopp going to fight in April and will either one be worth watching
Molly McConnell's return to boxing and Kita Wakins after getting edged out by Tiffany Junot, returns with something to prove. Both fighters are on a mission, actually the same mission which is that they are a force to be reckoned with and go to the next step
Belinsky vs Ji Hyun Park, in Korea....Belinsky has no chance

Cecilia Braekhus is NUMERO UNO! More and more, the consensus is building that Cecilia is the best of the women's welterweights in boxing today. www.thefightnetwork.com/data/blog/0/1670_540.jpg"In Germany, Braekhus was voted Female Boxer of the Year by renowned Boxsport Magazine, while international boxing portal Boxrec most recently awarded her with the prestigious "number one shirt." "I really felt honoured," Braekhus said. "The two awards mean a lot to me and make me very proud. However, they won't mean a thing when I step through the ropes in Herning. Emery is a tough opponent." quotes from thefightnetwork.com Remember when boxrec recognized Garside as number one in her division and then she went out and backed up that honour by thrashing Menzer? The same principle is at work here ladies and gentlemen. Put any of the top contenders in front of Braekhus and she is going to prove the folks at boxrec correct. I would be willing to roll all my 401K dinero on Braekhus against anyone at this point.

With the 2nd of April fast approaching, Braekhus shares these thoughts on her upcoming fight with Emery. 1. After studying video of Emery's bouts, she can not understand how Emery lost to Sweden's Lauren last fall. 2. To date, Emery has never lost a fight by KO. But Braekhus fully intends to change that, and wants to win by putting Emery down on the canvas. Cecilia really wants to score a KO against Emery. 3. Braekhus has been sparring and training to take on the southpaw Emery. 4. And she still wants to take on Holm..... www.youtube.com/watch?v=zl5mMH8-Qi4

I know Jill has a very slim chance of beating Cecilia in Germany. Cecilia will also have a harder time knocking out Jill because Jill is actually bigger than Eva and Lauren (her two past opponents). I can't wait for holm to knock out Cecilia lol but what will happen after Cecilia fights holm is a good unanswered question.

Jill Emery will celebrate her 41st birthday in May, but she was able to go the distance with a much younger fighter for the full 10 rounds. There were no knockdowns in the bout, but Braekhus keeps her record spotless with a UD victory. Two judges scored it 99-91 with the 3rd seeing it 98-92.
I thought Braekhus would get the KO here, so am mildly surprised and disappointed. Jason, my $$$$$$ is still on Cecilia if her management team can get the Holm contract signed.
TV2 sportbloggers describes Braekhus as being "unfocused" in the fight. And Cecilia says it was "messy and nasty, but a win is a win."

Cecilia still hasn't face anyone good, Cecilia didn't even take Jill seriously. I think Holm will take on Mathis but if she does take on Cecilia, it will be on Holm's terms, you can bet on that. Cecilia does have talent and skill and anyone can see that, just doesn't take on anyone worthwhile. I said months ago Cecilia would beat Jill and once again I was right.

Obviously Cecilia didn't take Jill seriously saddly, I am not suprised she wasn't able to ko Jill. This fight was no real suprise to anyone who pays attention to boxing. Exactly why I am not a fan of Cecilia and why I like Holm , Holm takes each opponent seriously and this is exactly why I think Holm could beat Cecilia because Cecilia takes on each opponent like she is on autopilot

John sentiments are so right! Cecila's suggestion makes so much sense. Set the biggest fight in the history of women's boxing in Las Vegas! Vegas Nevada. I don't blame Cecilia for not wanting to fight Holm in New Mexico one bit. Take the show to a neutral setting like Vegas, and let Holm and Braekhus decide the matter one on one. And like John, there is NO way I would miss attending this event live and in person. Jason, I don't know what Cecilia's feelings were about Jill, but I think one can state that she would train for a fight against Holm with a level of dedication and intensity unlike anything previous in her boxing career. THE PERFECT, MOST EXCITING SETTING IMAGINABLE FOR THE BIGGEST EVENT TO EVER TAKE PLACE IN THE HISTORY OF WOMEN'S BOXING! HOLM vs. BRAEKHUS www.vegasclublimos.com/images/tours/limo-strip-one.jpegand a shout out to Mary Owens for showing what class acts Emery and Braekhus are. thank you

Jason,
You can root all you want for Holm to KO Braekhus, while I root all I want for Braekhus to KO her!
As long as the fight is in Las Vegas, NEVADA and not Las Vegas, NEW MEXICO, there is a better chance that the fight will not have any political shenanigans, which I suspect would happen in New Mexico.
