Hey Hollie,
So you step in there with the TORRES THE BULL...what was your plan to beat her?
Mike Tyson likes to say, "Everybody has a plan until I hit them with my first punch".

Hollie,
Just watched your fight with Torres on youtube. Ouch! Those left hooks/left 45's ( half hook-half uppercut) looked like they found your liver. Triple ouch.
- Torres looked taller than you...I think she is, but she stood more upright and had much better balance - you look like you are so stretched out ( wide) that your punches have a much longer way to go and are very very slow and obvious. - your knees are locked. many women who spar with taller/heavier men get like this in order to "hang" in there with them. - your elbows are not protecting your body---however, they are blocking your vision pretty good. This may seem like a good idea until Torres hooks off a jab or a straight right. - look at how Torres throws straight punches from far away and then circular punches when she is in close. - can you clinch? Plenty of times you were trapped and didn't give her a "hug"...it can save your bacon when you have no idea how to get away from a fast punching machine like Torres. - your outfit made for a perfect target for Torres...all that was missing was a LIVER BULLSEYE.
But you know what--- your still a bad ass for taking her on, for throwing for the fences, for hanging in there when plenty would have quite, so take the Warrior Bow anyway!
Don't feel bad, Torres is a mexican wildcat that knows how to hook the body. Not many women learn that and almost no-one can take that shot. You watch Lucia and Christy--they can hook the body. Torres is right there with her technique. And that liver punch is a real super-pregnant dog when it slams ya!

Too be honest, I am glad Hollie didn't hit the canvas but Hollie and her team need to decide what they want to do and find the best weight class for Hollie. Doing 2,3 or 4 different weight class may get you more fights but it doesn't get you many wins when it is not your best weight class that you feel comfortable fighting in.

Jason- I'm just a rank amateur but sore "thumbs" just stick out and are obvious. I mention them with only the best intent for Hollie. You have to look at more aspects than JUST weight. Torres is the best pound for pound power puncher in women's boxing today. IMO. So anybody that seriously wants to beat that "GIANT" needs to bring a big ass game plan, a big ass punch, and a super level of technical skills, besides the best conditioning in the world. But Hollie has one big thing going for her, she has a huge heart. I love that about her! Women's boxing's problem is women don't get enough fights and sizeable purses to make boxing their profession. The Germans do this very well; their fighters fight often, they make enough money to be professionals. Are they the most broadly skilled? NO, but they are in shape and they come to fight and they get a steady stream of opponents which will eventually broaden their skills. For instance, what has Menzer learned since she got her ass whooped? We'll see in her next fight. TD

We already knew Ana Maria Torres was beyond hollie's league that was obvious and everything you have stated is the obvious. If you want to fix the problem become a fightmaker, or promoter or manager or a writer for women boxing, create your own women boxing site. I realized this months and a year ago, if you want to fix the problem you got to add your self to the equation and even though you and I are amateurs, who knows women boxing situation better than us?

I prefer to think about the two wins against two fine fighters in Chantel Cordova and Mayela Perez in recent months and this picture below. I prefer to think about Hollie being on the front page of of the biggest sports site in Mexico for a week now selling products for the promoter. they could have selected any of the other fighters, but they chose HotStuff. I prefer thinking about the chief trainer for Jennifer Salinas( a wonderful fighter herself) stopping us as we left the arena and telling Hollie that she is a d**n good fighter. I prefer thinking about the fact that Hollie took shots that Alesia Graff wound up on the canvas from, Hollie took um and stayed in the fight. how many of those amazing hooks from torres were low blows. plenty! did the ref call any of them, no. I prefer thinking about the mob of new fans that Hollie made and will see again in Mexico. I see Ana is already scheduled against against someone coming in from Japan. she is well funded and the promoter actually promotes her, can you imagine. a fb link to a few of the photo's from the trip. www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=24553&id=100000837348111&l=13aa203b4f

Also we all know your situation, however there are better fighters than Chantel and Mayela Perez, so I wouldn't use that example around us. I am not trying to put you or Hollie down, I am just being realistic here. If you want a promoter hire Carina Moreno or become one yourself or find people who want to be boxing promoters like at Fight Promoter University. If you want Hollie to fight Alesia Graf, I am going to tell you what I think and hold no ketchup. We all want Hollie to suceed and know she can.

ok brothers you're trying to help me now I'm going to try to help you. If you would quit riding the ass of every female boxer in high profile fights maybe they would actually say something in the the forum. how many people post here. do you ever wonder why? I'm well aware that I was fighting Hollie up in weight. how about the 3 stop flight to get to Merida, the flooded dressing room that we had to slop through just to get ready. when we fight away the home field advantage is tremendous. the original fighter for this card was injured some chick out of South American, we took it short notice. it's fantasy to believe you can make a perfect match each time, promoters are watching the budget, so making these international fights is expensive. any constructive thoughts are always appreciated, emphasis on constructive. lighten up fella's, this is from st. louis where Hollie teaches to hug! youtu.be/Xyh9IdsV75A

TD Hey Tom, we always have a plan. Listen I would like to give you a personal invitation to the gym, but before you come out for the day I'm going to fly you around the country till you're dizzy, send you through immigration a couple of times. if you don't have any heat in your room, don't worry you'll warm up in the gym. i may throw in a little water-boarding for effect, but listen when you get to the gym you better be 100% ready to go, to instruct our trainers on liver shots, foot work etc. I sent you my phone number so we can discuss the details. I don't know if I'll bring you on the team but you can show me what you got when you come out. if you really want to help me this is the best way to do it, not to harass my boxer in a forum.

As I constantly have said, I like Hollie's moxie, alot. But this board is about discussing boxing. And the spotlight is on her when she fights a champion.

I know the fight with Ana Torres was not the kind of fight I should have taken on ten days notice. I hadn't fought since January so my thought was, is it better to sit on the shelf, or take a chance? Another big deciding factor was I'm guaranteed another fight in Mexico within 90 days against someone closer to my weight division. Torres is a great fighter, however, that fight should not have been stopped. I was still weaving punches on the ropes when the fight was stopped in the 6th round. A fight should only be stopped if the fighter is unable to protect themselves. Sure, I'll openly admit the only reason I had my back to the ropes for the 2nd time was due to the lack of preparation time I was given but getting tired and fighting through it is a part of it. It doesn't matter how great of shape a fighter is in, they will get tired sometime throughout ten rounds. I have been the ten round distance many times with many champions, I know how to push myself through. Even though my opponent was 12 pounds heavier, I was ahead on the scorecards when the fight was stopped as I was outlanding Torres. I was not aware that rope-a-doping was not legal in Mexico. If a fight were stopped the moment a boxer fights off the ropes, Ali would have never been champion. It was part of his style as it is part of mine if you refer back to my big win against Mary Ortega who was coming down from an even bigger weight than Torres. The short notice didn't allow enough time for either of my trainers to renew their passports so I didn't even have a trainer there. I had everything possible working against me but I still do not regret that Ron and I decided to take this chance. Some great things have come out of it. We were treated great by the promoter and the Mexican fans and win or lose, this fight has opened up more opportunities for us.

Hey Hollie,
I want to apologize for the critique I layed out on your Torres fight. I did go way over the top. I certainly don't want to deminish your talent in any way. I greatly admire your guts. It takes alot of steel to do what you did against a stacked deck, no doubt about that!
Good Luck and Keep Throwing!

I know with TD with you guys, Hollie will do better, hopefully. Also the point system is a nice system but very few people go by it, if your going to use the pont system, you have to throw more punches in bunches.

You said yourself you are an amateur, so why you feel obligated to coach a 4x world champion and one of the most accomplished females in the business is beyond me. you do know what's going on in Mexico, right? this is professional boxing and a lot more goes on outside the ring than inside. you have your opinion and i have mine and they will never meet. I know how you feel about Hollie and I know how the rest of her fan base adores her. this young man pushed through 10 adults to tug on my arm in Merida Mexico to ask for Hollie's autograph. she was mobbed for autographs, she is the most sought after autograph in women's boxing, yes that include Mia etc. you know Buster Douglas, at the black tie in Oklahoma she signed many many more gloves than Buster and my god man he is a heavy weight champ. Hollie is a world class person and boxer I do not care what you think should be approved and disapproved in her career. maybe you should take a risk every once in a while, you may find yourself improving and having more fun in life.

First off, If I didnt' care about Hollie I wouldn't say anything at all but I do care about both of you and I want you both to succeed but just wishing that on a wishing well isn't going to make anything happen. You are right I ain't no pro and you can take what I say or not but somethings are obvious. Garside and Ashley won in Germany against German odd and crowds by overwhelming their opponent. I know your situation about Ana Maria but that statement I just said has to do with other In high school it is always nice to be popular but I rather be the geek, who is studying and working hard in class and making them A pluses, that goes the same with boxing. I think it is nice that Hollie is popular in Mexico but have you guys tried to work with Mexican promoters to get another fight in Mexico? against Esmeraldo Moreno? or Marianna Juarez or if your bold enough Arely Mucino or Irma Sanchez?? Did you know that the same Mayela Perez that hollie fought had been tko'd by the same women who fought Yessica Bopp, a mexican fighter called Ibeth Silva?? She has a title as well, yall can go after her.

What matters isn't how we feel about Hollie but how many people know and like hollie enough to buy her on a boxing card or how many promoters want to put her on a boxing card and what/who hollie wants to fight. titles don't matter but who you fight and if you won against them Everyone knows Garside because she is the women that beat and ko'd Ina Menzer.
