>:(Teddy Stenmark reports that a "war of words" has commenced between Mikaela Lauren and Cecilia Braekhus as they prepare for their October 30th fight. Braekhus concedes that Lauren is strong, but also adds inside the ring, she is as clumsy as an elephant. Lauren's response to being compared to a clumsy elephant was just as pointed. Lauren states that "Well, if I am the elephant, she is a glass house, she is fragile and I predict a knockout in round seven." And so there it is: some great pre-fight verbal judo between the women with the fight just a few days away. I'm looking forward to the weigh-in pics and video. Lauren is in for the toughest fight of her boxing career, but I don't think she will be intimidated one bit by the younger Braekhus. Her years of competing at the highest levels of international swimming events should help keep her focused like a laser beam on her stated goal of knocking out Cecilia. the fight will be screened live on Swedish cable-TV channel TV 10. Lauren is a former Husker: Husker stands for "we can't beat Texas in football, so we're off to join the BIG TEN!!" farm4.static.flickr.com/3006/2912198072_45a8c7ebf1.jpga short interview with Lauren: www.youtube.com/watch?v=UguND6inOGM

Both of those fighters are nothing to brag about, I don't even get why they would do a war of words
Lauren hasn't beaten anyone by Ko and to say Cecilia would lose by Ko is just stupid. Cecilia scraps the bottom of the barrell to get wins aka Victoria Cisneros fight and then she has knocked out anyone, Cecilia has more to lose in this fight than Lauren does. If Cecilia gets beat by this chick who has only had 7 fights and with non ranked opponents, then Cecilia better hang it up but if she beats Lauren she is good to go. If Lauren gets her botty kicked, its mainly just an experience for her that she won't ever get again. Sweden is becoming a boxing haven, so Lauren won't be going broke or hurt over this fight. She will just be getting some publicity, similar to Shantel Martinez vs Jackie nava. Shantel is getting a lot of publicity and is well know in her country and more.

Rick and Jason, thanx for the responses!! as for me, I'm really looking forward to this one. MUCH more so than when Cecilia fought Cisneros. if Braekhus wins Saturday and Holly Holm wins in December, maybe 2011 will bless us with a Holm-Braekhus welterweight contest.. the weights for SATURDAY are Cecilia 146.6 and Mikaela 144.8 Lauren looks like one determined fighter in the staredown!! Does she have what it takes to have her hand raised in victory? Lauren and Braekhus face-off for the camera. photo by Photo Wende. fightnews.com/Boxing/20101029weights001.jpgmucho thanx to fightnews for posting the pic.

Looks like Cecilia won, pretty easy with a TKO. I wonder who Cecilia will fight next?

A German is A German and even though Cecilia fights in other places, she mainly fights in Germany and even though we say sometimes that Germany fighters get home town advantage that doesn't mean you should slack off when fighting them. Lauren ran her mouth and got a mouth full of fist and knocked on her back, we probably haven't seen the last of Lauren but when taking on a champion don't dive in unless you know what your getting yourself into, every fighter should take note of this, becareful what you wish for.

By all accounts, Braekhus went through Lauren like a saw mill goes through a freshly cut Georgia pine. Mr. Stenmark posted on secondsout.com "Well it's nothing to cry over, the fact that Cecilia Braekhus totally dominated Sweden's Mikaela Lauren in Rostock, Germany tonight. Lauren is not in her league but she is a tough girl and deserves credit for standing up to the reigning world champion as long as she did. It's not healthy to absorb as much punches as Mikaela took during the bout that is for sure. She crumbled after a nice couple of combinations from Braekhus in the seventh round and had endured a hell-like sixth round prior to that. The referee counted over the fallen Swede but he could have waved it off right there. She had nothing left. It is fair to say, Braekhus broke Mikaela's spirit and gave her a boxing lesson she will not forget for a long time. IT WAS NORWAY ALL THE WAY. Cecilia won every round. She is a phenomenal champion, perhaps the best female boxer pound for pound at the moment." in my opinion, Braekhus IS the BEST of the welterweights right now - and would beat Holm on a neutral site. and lastly, Mikaela has posted LOTS of pics from her stay in Germany. I compliment her on a such a well done site. I wish there were more like this. click on "translate" to read her comments in english, of which there is quite a bit. she seems to be a very expressive person! www.finest.se/mikaelalauren

Cecilia Braekhus is a good fighter but there is a reason why I don't think she is the best. Cecilia has faced a third rate fighters. Cecilia had a hard time against Vinni Skovgaard and won only by point against Morelli but Morelli, took her punches as if she were getting hit with a pillow, every time Morelli punched Cecilia she was on the ropes or had to back up. Even though Holly Holm has faced the some opponents over and over, she has also faced Myriam Lamare and won against her. Cecilia hasn't faced opponents the top of her weight class and Holly has. When Cecilia Braekhus can fight opponents like Jessica Balogun or Monica Acosta but even though she may be at the top that doesn't mean she is great, Natascha Ragosina is at the top of her class but their hardly are any opponents in that class.
