Ok this is just Crap. The old crab in a basket mentality that Trinidad has with thier Indian/Black raciism!!! When I fought Salendy the whole coutry new that she was in a hospital for possible steriod use. There was no drug test on my fight which was a WBC/WBA title fight!! I asked for it after and recieved no response from the Officials - In fact while I was waiting to my fight 4 people came up to me to say make sure that she took her drug test. I do not speak ill of the dead, so I will not and did not pursue this. But here is a new flash to all the Trindians - to the rest of the world -you are all Trinidians not the black or the indina all- Ria sat on the sidelines quitely during Salendy's rein, but she is Trinidad's FIRST FEMALE WORLD CHAMPION and rasicim can never take that away from here.
But this whole drug test thing - I ASK WHERE WERE THEY FOR MY FIGHT WITH SALANDEY _WHEN I BEGGING FOR A DRUG TEST! Your country needs to WAKE UP!!! I know that RIA spent 6 hard weeks training and sparring some of the BEST FEMALE FIGHTERS IN THE WORLD AND WAS NURSING HER SHOULDER ALL THE TIME. SHE FOUGHT FOR HER COUNTRY AND THIS IS HOW THEY RESPECT HER! SHE SEEMS TO ALWAYS HAVE TO FIGHT OUTSIDE THE RING HER OWN PEOPLE BEFORE SHE ENTERS THE RING. WOW SHE really has my respect now, she stills beleives in her country!!

I hear what you are saying Yvonne...of course there should have been a test after your fight! But, if Ria tests POSITIVE she tests positive... and that is a disgrace. It doesn't really have anything to do with racism or anything that happened or didn't happen prior to that. If she is positive she is disrespecting her country NOT vice versa.

First Marianne, Congratulations GIRL!!!!!!! ON YOUR WIN!!!!! You know we would have been there but for the Golden Gloves and vice versa. But you go GIRL!!!
Ok, back to this - see you have already convicted her as the press without all the info. It is not you persay the the perception and the Holy than though additude of the Sanctioning Bodies where were these same officials when I was complaining?? but the fact is not all of the facts are in and the power of the press is way to ---well powerful to convict for a good story instead of waiting for all the fact before running with it.
Women's Sports and politics are hand in hand in many countries around the world. In fact in many countries Female Boxer receive more attention than men and of course with attention comes the well for lack of a better expression the - HATERS ( and everyone of us female fighters and a few chosen trainers/mangers and supports know this side of it either locally or internationally.
But enough - this is about Boxing and Your moment -!!!!

Thanks Yvonne! Great to BE back...and congrats on another awesome job with the women's Nationals!
I have not "convicted" her...I said IF in both of my statements. Are you saying the newspaper is FABRICATING the test results? They have reported she tested POSITIVE...I am assuming they are reporting this because they have tests that came out positive. I understand (more than most) about the politics involved in this sport, but I just don't see what that has to do with the fact that she tested positive for illegal substances... If there is an explaination for these substances being in her system then let's hear it...

Ria failed to show in Hungary a couple of years ago against Krisztina Belinszky when she found out I was there and would require urine sample. I also could not get the fighters to take urine samples on any fight cards in Trinidad. The entire place is so corrupt and dangerous that I am amazed anyone will fight there. The place has no redeemable qualities and Boxu Potts makes Jesse James look like Pope Paul.
