forgot to mention this: also in the June issue of "The Ring" one can read a high quality story on boxing cuts. This relates back to the Garside - Menzer thread. One would hope that all ringside MD's, refs, aspiring refs and cutmen would read AND comprehend the article. But life doesn't work like that. Margaret Goodman, M.D. (pages 122-123) "I marvel as to why there still exists such confusion regarding cuts - especially among officials." See also www.thecutman.com/goodmanarticle.htm

Todd--Round Card Girls are part of the 10 point MUST system. They MUST be there. Problem is, they usually wear too much clothes.
The best round card show ever used to be the Ms. Budweiser contests. Smart promoters use those contests to fill giant holes when they have fights ending early and the crowd getting restless, not to mention the $$$ from Bud for having mega-hotties wearing BUD-SUITS!
Just my 2 cents.

Surely the gender of the boxers is less important than the composition of the crowd? As long as the audience is mainly male, round-card girls are going to be a feature of any promotion. They're so main-stream now, I don't really see this as an issue.
I certainly do remember envying Jimmy Lennon Jnr about 20 years ago when he got to introduce the Miss Ringsider girls at the Great Western Forum. Those Bud one-piece swimsuits were stunning to look at (and a little uncomfortable to wear, I'd say).
Come to think of it, the most important part of any card-girl's outfit is her footwear - high heels should be mandatory, given how much they add to the visual impact. Nothing worse than flat shoes in the ring, in my opinion - they reduce the effect of whatever else she wears (bikini, one-piece, mini-dress, etc.)

The CORONA girls are by far the best. Just saying, since the topic was brought up

The CORONA girls are by far the best. Just saying, since the topic was brought up They're sweet (except when they stand in the ring at the end of the contest and hold up little publicity boards for their brand while the verdict is being announced...) It's also worth noting that Ring magazine devotes 4 pages in every issue to a "Card Girl of the Month", yet it only gives two pages to women's boxing news.

when it's women competing inside the ring, round card girls are ridiculous. "Ridiculous" is not the first word that comes to mind about this inter-round entertainment during a women's bout www.pbase.com/alan/image/58804830
