Don't know who is behind the UBC (Universal Boxing Championship), but am impressed with the upcoming matches they have made between Ada Velez and Kaliesha West, and particularly the Jennifer Barber versus Chika Nakamura bout. Would love to be there for either one, but can't. My predictions are two entertaining bouts, with West and Barber winning close ones.
CORRECTION! (Sorry!) Ultimate Boxing Championship, NOT Universal.

Velez and West fought to a Draw. West said she took the fight on short notice...Hmmm Ada knew she was fighting 4 weeks ago and they tried to duck her twice. It was the promoter that said fight Ada or don't fight. Velez wants a rematch it was her first fight in a 2 and half years.
Oh, by the way TD that whole next thing was uncalled for. I have called her out Lenny said no. I can't even get a fight with Christy Martin, she told me to my face she will never fight me. I have an MMA fight with Nana Berto end of Feb., but with the horrible stuff happening in Haiti that might not happened.
But it seems to be what you want so here goes. This OLD LADY will fight from 147 to 160 anytime anywhere (and have), any one interested contact Bonnie Canino! Does that make me a valid fighter now???

Hey Yvonne...camon, get mad. Hey, if you whisper while the world is shouting, guess what, your the boxing whisperer. LOL. Not a title you want. Look, I'm not saying you call somebody a Rabbit. But dam, I gotta tell you, calling Holm a Rabbit sold tickets. However, I am saying to you, say this I WANT YOU IN THE RING HOLM. Just say that. Don't offend anybody, just stick up for yourself. Yvonne, you might think that YOU are at the top or even the bottom of every list. In reality, I will bet you are NOT on those lists. How do you get on them? START TALKING! I get that you won't talk TRASH, but will you be willing to drop a hard right hand on somebody's chin??? Well would you? Of course you would. But if NOBODY knows that fighting spirit, that desire to win every round of every fight, that willingness to bang the opponent before she bangs you---nobody but nobody is going to think of you. I know you know all of this, and that's NOT what I am referring to. I'm speaking to your missing prescence. BE LOUD, BE PROUD. STAND UP AND FIGHT TO GET THE FIGHT! TD

I covered Velez's fight with Sitzes for WBAN. That was a comeback fight, too, after a two-year layoff. Velez is a cagy boxer and had Bonnie Canino in her corner.
Also, I know that Yvonne called Holly out on Facebook and stated her case to Ryan Wissow to be the next opponent. A bunch of comments about age and being on the promoter's veto list ended that bid. She never quit.

OK. First, mea culpa. It's Ultimate Boxing Championship, NOT Universal. Near as I can tell from the WBAN article, it is run by the people who do Battle in the Ballroom, which I think is Roy Englebrecht Promotions.
Apparently, UBC (NOT to be confused with the Universal Boxing Council) is modeling a competition similar to the Super Six series where fighters go round-robin in a group and get X number of points for a KO, unanimous decision, split or majority decision and draw. Not sure who the other two or four in the Barber and Nakamura group are at this point.
Second, Velez-West was not affiliated with UBC, as I mistakenly thought. It was also a good matchup in California, but promoted by Patrick Ortiz of Ringside Tickets Promotions.

Oh, by the way TD that whole next thing was uncalled for. I agree. People who hide behind their initials here are in no position to tell world champions how to behave.

Nakamura couldn't shake a cold, and the fight got postponed to April 1. Still no word on others in the series ...
