Oh speaking of Amy Yuratovac she is facing Cecilia Braekhus?? Who do you guys think will win?? (Note - I moved this question here from "retired boxers" thread as it's about an upcoming fight between two boxers who haven't retired! - Dee)

Cecilia is a former European amateur champion who is undefeated since turning pro in 2007, a good technical boxer with fast hands. Yuratovac is tough, and won't go easily while Braekhus is not a KO specialist. They are fighting in Finland, which will be more familiar ground to Braekhus (a Columbian-born Norwegian). I expect Yuratovac to put up a fight that Braekhus will win. Yuratovac has faced Christy Martin and knows what it's like to get hit, but she did lose to Mia St. John, and the six opponent's she's KO'd had only win between them.

Even though Cecilia is a former european champion she hasn't faced any truely tough opponents. I am rooting for Amy because she fights hard and never givens in. Amy is always treated like a low fighter. I really want to see her vs Mary Mcgee in neutral area but...that probably won't happen soon. Cecilia has been spoiled with two titles and not a tough challenger to make her work for the right and honor of having a title.

I think you're being a tad unfair to Vinni Skovgaard to say that Cecilia "didn't have to work" for her titles. Although Cecilia had a history of defeating Vinni in the amateurs, Skovgaard was no pushover and gave Braekhus a good fight. That said, Braekhus is in the same division as Jill Emery and Holly Holm, who have much higher opponent strength ratings on my system. Braekhus's overall opponent strength rating is low as she fought a typical string of welterweight suspects (for a non-German trying to get herself established in Germany) at first - but the title fight was the start of her getting more credible opposition. Skovgaard was no novice - she had 58 wins as an amateur, but several losses to Braekhus. I'm a bit surprised that WBC approved it for their belt (but I was much more surprised by their Thai prison gig). Braekhus ran out of gas in the Skovgaard fight so if Amy can get to her and take her long like Skovgaard did she might have a better shot at her in the late rounds.

... how can this be?
Yuratovac lost for the WBC international belt and now boxes for the WBC and WBA world titles on May 30 in Helsinki, Finland.
She is #14 of 21 rated boxers at Boxrec welterweights and
she ist not rated at WBAN ratings at all.

Maybe I am wrong but I never doubt the capabilities of Cecilia just the path she has taken. Cecilia and her team get the opportunities of Europe and Germany, a powerhouse for boxing but why don't they face the top 10 in their class?? Alot of boxers put their lives on the line to do something they love and to come into another country and sacrifice their time all for the sake of boxing. Some boxers suffer mentally and physically but that is in most sports. she had almost 65 fights as an amateur but she can't face the cream of the crop...the problem is that many fighters don't want to end up having dirt on their clean spotless record. I just don't want to see another dominating one sided fight by two different level fighters. that is my point

"First Lady" Cecilia Braekhus To Fight On Valuev-Chagaev Undercard In Helsinki Cecilia Braekhus will make a first defence of her WBA/WBC female welterweight titles when she comes face-to-face with Amy Yuratovac in Helsinki on May 30. The “First Lady” (11-0, 2 KOs) is already looking forward to her first-ever professional fight in Scandinavia. “I am thrilled to be fighting in Helsinki,” the newly-crowned world champion said. “I have a lot of friends in Finland and I hope that many fans from Norway will come over to support me.” The “First Lady” is also good friends with Eva Wahlström, Finland’s most successful amateur boxer. “We have been in close touch ever since our amateur days,” Braekhus added. “I look forward to seeing her ringside on May 30.” Braekhus wrote boxing history in March 2009 when she edged Denmark´s Vinni Skovgaard in Kiel to become Team Sauerland´s first-ever female world champion. It was also the first time that German public TV station ARD televised a women fight. “I still find it hard to believe that I am a world champion now,” Braekhus said. “It is very special. I was very proud to pay back all the confidence Team Sauerland has put in me. Now it is my goal to win all belts in my weight class.” Winning the world title has changed Braekhus´ life forever, with media publications in Norway and German flooding her with PR requests. “My mailbox is always full,” she smiled. “But I really enjoy doing this kind of stuff – at least it is not as exhausting as Ulli Wegner´s training sessions.” The “General”, as he is known to his boxers, would never grant his stars a championship bonus. Much on the contrary. “Just ask Arthur Abraham about it,” said Braekhus of the IBF middleweight champion, who knows one thing or two about exhausting training sessions under the guidance of the 67-year-old. For the past three weeks, Braekhus has been working out in Team Sauerland´s training camp base in Kienbaum, which is 20 miles east of Berlin. “It is my goal to become faster, better and stronger,” she said. “I keep improving every day and I want to show that in Helsinki on May 30.” Tickets for the hotly-anticipated fight night at the Hartwall Arena are available at www.lippu.fi as well as +358 600 900 900. VIP packages can be purchased at www.revengeofthegiant.com.

Braekhus now holds the same WBC Welterweight belt that Holly Holm once held, but I doubt that bothers Holly who doesn't care that much about individual belts, especially not now she has snagged so many. . Cecilia would have a LOT of work to do to have a good shot at Holly, who is always in tip top shape and is a master of making her opponents wear themselves out chasing her, especially at mile high altitude where she trains all the time. I don't think Braekhus is ready (yet) for a credible challenge to Holm, even at sea level and definitely not at altitude in NM. Maybe one day ...

How about Chris Namus, Duda Yankovich, Molly McConnell? Chris Namus yeah but i don't think she would get out of Panama and Duda Yankovich,i don't know about her i will wait to see how she does against Holly Holm and Molly Mcconell... seems she has a good record but i would want to see her first fight Myriam Lamare then based on that fight then i would say yes or no

I think Myriam is a cut above all of them, so I wouldn't pick on McConnell for that. I was trying to list boxers who would be good matches for Braekhus right now, leaving out the top ones who she may need more experience to prepare for.
